Star India batter Rohit Sharma brought in the coveted T20 World Cup trophy into the Wankhede Stadium ahead of India\u2019s match against the United States of America. Rohit had led the Indian team to the title triumph in the 2024 edition of the tournament.<\/p>\n

Rohit unveiled the silverware alongside ICC president Jay Shah ahead of India\u2019s opening game of the 2026 T20 World Cup.<\/p>\n

After announcing his retirement from T20Is after the 2024 win, Rohit was named the ICC\u2019s brand ambassador for the 2026 T20 World Cup, which is why he was present at the venue for the defending champions\u2019 opening encounter.<\/p>\n

Rohit also caught up with former teammate Yuzvendra Chahal and current India skipper Suryakumar Yadav before the toss. He then walked out amidst fireworks and deafening chants of \u2018Rohit, Rohit\u2019 from the home crowd as he carried the trophy onto the field.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, India\u2019s top order collapsed as the hosts slumped to 63\/4 after 10 overs, with USA<\/a> pacer Shadley van Schalkwyk inflicting the maximum damage in their T20 World Cup clash in Mumbai.<\/p>\n

The Indian batters found USA pacer van Schalkwyk (3\/13 in three overs) too hot to handle as the 37-year-old struck thrice in the sixth over, removing Ishan Kishan (20), Tilak Varma (25) and Shivam Dube (0) to leave the hosts reeling at 46\/4.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Pakistan-born pacer Ali Khan had provided the initial jolt by dismissing Abhishek Sharma for a first-ball duck.<\/p>\n

At the halfway mark of the India innings, captain Suryakumar Yadav and Rinku Singh were batting at 15 and 3 runs.<\/p>\n

Earlier, USA captain Monank Patel won the toss and opted to bowl.<\/p>\n

India didn\u2019t field ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah in the game as he is unwell, with Mohammed Siraj coming into the playing XI.<\/p>\n
