The United Kingdom is set to repatriate \u201cillegal migrants and criminals\u201d from three\u00a0African countries after finally securing their governments\u2019 commitment.<\/p>\n
Namibia and Angola earlier\u00a0agreed on returns after the\u00a0threat of visa penalties, but the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) delayed coordination efforts since late 2025.<\/p>\n
To pressure the DRC, Britain stripped its officials and other VIPs of preferential visa treatment and revoked fast-track visa processing services for all nationals.<\/p>\n
The UK said the decision of the nations to take back their people proved\u00a0the effectiveness of the visa ban threat and the reforms\u00a0set out last November.<\/p>\n
The government stated that\u00a0countries that refuse to\u00a0cooperate\u00a0cannot expect a normal visa relationship. Further threats are expected against difficult countries.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf foreign governments refuse to accept the return of their citizens, they will face consequences,\u201d\u00a0Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said, vowing to restore\u00a0order and control to the\u00a0borders.<\/p>\n
More than\u00a03,000 nationals from Angola,\u00a0Namibia, and the\u00a0Democratic Republic of Congo could be\u00a0eligible\u00a0for removal via scheduled transportation flights.<\/p>\n
