Hull FC’s Davy Litten scored a first senior hat-trick at Salford. <\/p>\n
Davy Litten believes Hull FC have got a \u2018really good player\u2019 in Jake Arthur, with the Black and Whites star explaining why his new teammate is exactly what the side needs to kick on this year.<\/p>\n
One of eight new signings for the 2026 season, Arthur partnered skipper Aidan Sezer in the halves for Friday\u2019s Challenge Cup tie at Salford RLFC and was influential throughout during the 60-0 win.<\/p>\n
Taking a kicking responsibility throughout, Arthur took control of the contest, running the ball, passing to effect, and adding his own try for good measure.<\/p>\n
Linking well with Litten, who played full-back in the absence of Will Pryce, the duo showed some good signs, with Litten predicting Hull\u2019s new Aussie star to take to Super League this year.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe’s a good bloke, first of all, and his rugby backs up the way he is as well,\u201d Litten told Hull Live post-match. \u201cHe’ll grow to the game over here. I think we’ve got a really good player on our hands.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe’s not your typical Aussie. He’s really humble and down to earth and wants to get better. You wouldn’t believe he was the same age as me, but he’s a really good kid.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe just wants to get better. His kicking game is great. He’s exactly what we needed off the back of last year. Hopefully, he keeps growing his game over here and realises his potential with us. I think we\u2019ve got a really good player there.\u201d<\/p>\n
As for his own game, Litten ran well, scoring the first hat-trick of his senior career. Supporting Hull\u2019s attack to effect, the stand-in full-back turned the clock back to a position he knows inside out after his junior days and time in Hull\u2019s youth system.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was talking to my grandad before; I played there all my amateur career, and I felt like I was going back to the amateur days,\u201d Litten explained. \u201cI just wanted to have a bit of fun out there and I did that. I’ve really missed being out there with the boys. I loved it. I felt really comfortable.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was good. It was challenging, to be fair, in the first 20 minutes. The ref gave a few penalties for our ill-discipline, and then as the game went on, I think the full-time side showed why they are full-time, but we came here, we were professional, and we got the win at the end of it and the big zero for our defence.\u201d<\/p>\n
On his hat-trick, Litten continued: \u201cIt’s a really proud moment for me and my family. Salford are doing it tough at the moment, and I need to get one in Super League now, but it’s a start. I remember Lewis Martin getting a hat-trick in the cup game last year and he was the top try scorer. Hopefully I can follow on and do that now.\u201d<\/p>\n
Litten is looking to rekindle his partnership with Martin on Hull\u2019s left edge this year, having found home in the centre spot \u2013 and has joked he wouldn\u2019t mind a slice of the winger\u2019s new five-year deal at some point.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe’s a really humble kid and none of that (the contract) will get to his head,\u201d Litten said. \u201cHe’ll still be scoring tries, especially if he’s outside of me, but jokes aside, this is a really big year for us young boys. We got our opportunities over the last two years and we\u2019ve shown why we are capable of being Super League players. Now it’s about going to that next level.<\/p>\n
\u201cI’m really looking forward to seeing what we can all do and, more importantly, the team. We’ve got a really exciting group and going forward, we need to back up the board after their investment and get some results.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hull will look to do just that in the Super League, with Bradford Bulls first up next week. Games then follow against Wigan, York, and Wakefield before the fourth round of the cup.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt’s just nice to be in the hat, and it’s nice to get the win with the boys and in front of the fans,\u201d Litten added. \u201cWhoever we get next, we’ll turn up and we\u2019ll be ready.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe’ve got a few Super League games before that, though, but it’s a competition we definitely need to do well in. We’ll focus on that when it comes.\u201d<\/p>\n
