\n\tUPDATED with new trailer: The final trailer for Amazon MGM\u2019s Project Hail Mary<\/a>, adapted from Andy Weir\u2019s best-selling 2021 novel, has blasted off. The film lands in theaters March 20.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe trailer, promoted by Gosling throwing a neon green football through the donut hole of the structure atop Randy\u2019s Donuts in Los Angeles, gives viewers a solid glimpse of the alien Rocky, who encounters Gosling\u2019s character in space. They team up because they are after the same answers.<\/p>\n

\n\tSet to Prince\u2019s \u201cI Would Die 4 U,\u201d the clip shows man and alien species learning to communicate through a fancy device Gosling\u2019s astronaut uses to decipher Rocky\u2019s language and mode of communication. Then he assigns him a voice, and they form a close bond.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs previous clips have teased, Ryan Gosling<\/a>\u2019s Grover Cleveland Middle School teacher Ryland Grace, who casually possesses a doctorate in molecular biology, is recruited to save Earth from a dying sun in this science fiction adventure story.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen Sandra H\u00fcller\u2019s scientist tells him that every star in the galaxy is dying except one, Gosling\u2019s Grace hesitates to join a last prayer mission to save Earth.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI put the \u2018not\u2019 in \u2018astronaut\u2019,\u201d he tries to tell a team of scientists in a snippet released last June.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe second trailer, released Nov. 19, 2025, picked up where the first left off, with one of Rocky the alien\u2019s appendages knocking on glass to say hi to Gosling\u2019s Grace. Turns out they are on the same mission, to save their respective heliocentric stars.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film\u2019s screenplay was written by Drew Goddard, and Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (Into the Spider-Verse, Across the Spider-Verse) directed the ambitious adaptation.<\/p>\n

\n\tSongs featured in trailers so far include Harry Styles\u2019 \u201cSign of the Times\u201d and Oasis\u2019 \u201cChampagne Supernova.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tA reteaming of The Martian author Andy Weir and that film\u2019s screenwriter Drew Goddard, Project Hail Mary centers on Ryland Grace (Gosling), who wakes up on a spaceship with no memory of who he is or how he got there. Soon his solo mission becomes clear: solve the riddle of the mysterious substance causing the sun to die out. He then meets a mysterious alien who has traveled light years to save his own species from the same fate.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe new trailer lays out the stakes and introduces the alien, who Ryland dubs Rocky. Oasis\u2019 \u201cChampagne Supernova\u201d plays in the background.<\/p>\n

\n\tSandra H\u00fcller, Lionel Boyce, Ken Leung and Milana Vayntrub also star. The movie hits theaters and Imax on March 20, 2026.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe sci-fi thriller stars Ryan Gosling, who plays a middle school science teacher, Ryland Grace (Gosling), who wakes up on a spaceship with no memory of who he is or how he got there. He must figure out how to complete his interstellar mission to save Earth from an astronomical catastrophe completely alone, until he meets a mysterious alien who has traveled light years to save his own species from the same fate.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Phil Lord<\/a> and Chris Miller<\/a>-directed space adventure is based on the Andy Weir bestseller of the same name.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAmazon MGM showed footage from the film at their CinemaCon presentation in April. Gosling was present and called the film an \u201cinsanely ambitious story, massive in scope.\u201d It was so big, \u201cwe tried to put it on a TV once, it wouldn\u2019t fit,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tAlso starring in the film are Sandra Huller and Milana Vayntrub. Producers are Amy Pascal, Gosling, Lord, Miller, Aditya Sood, Rachel O\u2019Connor, Ken Kao, and Weir. Oscar-winning Dune DP Greig Fraser is the cinematographer. Executive producers are Lucy Kitada and Nikki Baida via Lord Miller; Goddard, Sarah Esberg, Ken Kao, and Patty Whitcher.\u00a0<\/p>\n
