\n\tThe \u201cGod of War<\/a>\u201d series at Amazon Prime Video<\/a> has found its Atreus. <\/p>\n

\n\tCallum Vinson has been cast as the young god, with the actor set to star opposite Ryan Hurst as Atreus\u2019 father, Kratos<\/a>. Additional cast members<\/a> include Max Parker as Heimdall, \u00d3lafur Darri \u00d3lafsson as Thor, Mandy Patinkin as Odin, Alastair Duncan as Mimir, and Danny Woodburn and Jeff Gulka as as brothers Brok and Sindri. <\/p>\n

\n\tAs previously reported, the series will pick up with the story of the two most recent \u201cGod of War\u201d games, in which Kratos must raise his ten-year old son Atreus while battling god of the Norse pantheon. Per the logline, \u201cFather and son Kratos and Atreus embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAtreus is further described as \u201cthe ten-year old son of Kratos, who grew up in a remote forest cabin, isolated from the rest of the world and raised almost entirely by his mother Faye. He is an accomplished archer, has an affinity for animals and is intensely curious about what lies beyond the confines of his forest home. After his mother\u2019s death, Atreus is left with a cold, distant father who he barely knows and who knows little about him in return. Nonetheless, Atreus yearns for his father\u2019s approval and is desperate to prove he is strong enough to survive in a harsh and dangerous world.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tVinson previously appeared in the Amazon series \u201cDead Ringers,\u201d while he has also appeared in hit shows such as \u201cLong Bright River\u201d and \u201cPoker Face\u201d at Peacock as well as \u201cFBI: International\u201d at CBS. Next up, he will appear in the third season of the Netflix series \u201cThe Night Agent\u201d as well as the \u201cFriday the 13th\u201d prequel \u201cCrystal Lake\u201d at Peacock in the role of Jason Vorhees. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cGod of War\u201d has received a two-season order at Amazon, with pre-production now underway in Vancouver. Ronald D. Moore is the writer, executive producer, and showrunner on \u201cGod of War\u201d under his Tall Ship Productions banner.<\/p>\n

\n\tFrederick E.O. Toye will direct the first two episodes of \u201cGod of War.\u201d Maril Davis of Tall Ship also executive produces alongside Cory Barlog, Naren Shankar, Matthew Graham, Asad Qizilbash, Jeff Ketcham, Hermen Hulst, Roy Lee, and Brad Van Arragon. Joe Menosky, Marc Bernardin, Tania Lotia, and Ben McGinnis serve as co-executive producers on the series. The series is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios in association with PlayStation Productions and Tall Ship Productions.
