The One Show’s Alex Jones has spoken out about Jermaine Jenas<\/a>‘ sacking by the BBC<\/a> last August, stating: “No one is bigger than the show.” The sports pundit and TV presenter was accused of sending inappropriate texts to female colleagues and after an internal investigation was launched, his BBC contract was terminated<\/a>.<\/p>\n The One Show<\/a> host Alex Jones worked closely with Jermaine during his time on the show – and has now spoken out about the allegations against him.<\/p>\n In a recent interview, Alex explained that she initially thought that Jermaine was on extended holiday leave before finding out that he had been axed. It comes after Strictly’s Anton Du Beke shared heartbreak over wife’s ‘cruel and inexplicable’ diagnosis<\/a>.<\/p>\n Speaking to The Times<\/a> she said: “We weren\u2019t told what was going on. I assumed he was on an extended holiday because he just didn\u2019t come back.<\/p>\n “Allegations were made and the BBC acted swiftly. I thought, hmm, I really like the young people who work with us. I\u2019ve been there myself, starting out in TV, and if anybody, at any time, feels uncomfortable for whatever reason, it\u2019s right that action is taken.”<\/p>\n She added: “There are a lot of young people working on the show, girls and boys who are just starting out. And if I don\u2019t speak up if something\u2019s wrong, well, they don\u2019t feel that they can. We were lucky because they did. But some people don\u2019t feel that they can, even now.”<\/p>\n Alex also opened up about encountering male creepiness at the start of the career, admitting that while she didn’t feel uncomfortable at the time, “that probably wouldn’t happen now”. She added that she wouldn’t have opened up about it and she’s “so glad that it doesn’t have to be like that”.<\/p>\n Issuing a stark warning to males in the industry she went on to add: “You have to behave yourself. Just be a tidy human being. Even if it was OK before, well, it doesn\u2019t mean it\u2019s OK now. It\u2019s inexcusable, so just behave. Nobody\u2019s bigger than the show, and whether it\u2019s a presenter or one of the producers or a runner, it doesn\u2019t matter.
