Noel Gallagher<\/a> has revealed that he is currently \u201cin the studio\u201d, though it remains to be seen whether he is working on new Oasis<\/a> music or solo material with the High Flying Birds<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The musician shared the update during a recent interview with talkSPORT<\/a>, where he was asked about being honoured with the Songwriter Of The Year award at this month\u2019s BRITs 2026<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m in the studio now, but I better put something out,\u201d Gallagher said. \u201cI\u2019ve been shamed.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked how he found out he\u2019d be given the prize, the singer-songwriter explained: \u201cIf I\u2019m being honest right, I just think they were desperate to get somebody from Oasis up there because it\u2019s from Manchester\u2026 that\u2019s what I think.\u201d<\/p>\n

The BRITs \u201926 will take place at the Co-op Live in Gallagher\u2019s home city on Saturday February 28<\/a>, moving from the ceremony\u2019s usual home of London\u2019s O2.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur kid [Liam<\/a>] was like, \u2018I\u2019m not going\u2019,\u201d he continued. \u201cI was like, \u2018Well I\u2019ll have to go then, I suppose\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut no, a call came through and I was like \u2018What? How can that be?\u2019 But as it\u2019s all based on record sales, we did sell the most records. So you know, like I say, if anybody\u2019s got a problem with it, I\u2019ll be there. I\u2019ll be on the red carpet.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Gallagher being the recipient of the award has sparked some backlash<\/a>, given he has not released any new songs over the past 12 months.<\/p>\n

\u201cI haven\u2019t written a song for two years,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m not sure how I\u2019ve got away with that one, but I\u2019ll take it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gallagher explained: \u201cI mean, we sold a million records last year. Didn\u2019t even get off the couch, and I\u2019m not sure there\u2019s a songwriter that can match that.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, his latest update suggests that new material could be arriving very soon. It is currently unclear as to whether Gallagher is at work on a brand-new Oasis project \u2013 which would be their first music since 2008 \u2013 or a follow-up to his latest High Flying Birds album, 2023\u2019s \u2018Council Skies\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Fans have been speculating over a potential new Oasis single or album since the Britpop giants returned for their huge Live \u201925 reunion tour<\/a> last year. Gallagher added fuel to the rumour mill recently when he said he was \u201cback at work\u201d<\/a> following his Christmas break. He responded to whispers that he could be penning the next James Bond theme, too<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Last spring, Stereophonics\u2019 Kelly Jones revealed that the guitarist had \u201cbeen doing some writing in the studio\u201d<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m assuming he\u2019s doing some writing for either his stuff or if they\u2019re [Oasis] gonna bring out a couple songs, I don\u2019t know,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

At the end of last year, Liam said Oasis wouldn\u2019t be touring again until 2027 at the earliest<\/a>. He had previously teased that there were \u201cloads more classics we need to play\u201d<\/a> on the road, and hinted at \u201ca European tour\u201d.<\/p>\n

Oasis\u2019 co-manager Alec McKinlay dismissed any hopes of new music from the band<\/a> last year. In response, Liam tweeted<\/a>: \u201cThe only people that will be making any kind of decisions on the future of OASIS will be ME n RKID [Noel] so let\u2019s just take it one day at a time.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2024, LG told fans that a new Oasis album was \u201calready finished\u201d<\/a>. He raised hopes again later that year, claiming that he\u2019d been \u201cblown away\u201d by the new material written by Noel<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He then went back on this in an update on X\/Twitter, saying that there was \u201cno Oasis album in the making\u201d<\/a>. Liam claimed that his prior comments were merely something he did for \u201ca laugh\u201d. But the frontman subsequently said \u201cthere could be an album\u201d, depending on how the Live \u201925 gigs went<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s just take 1 step at a time I think youde agree that was the wisest move [sic],\u201d he said at the time.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

At the final Live \u201925 concert in S\u00e3o Paulo, Brazil, last November, Liam told the audience<\/a>: \u201cWe love you, thanks for all your energy. Take care of yourselves, and we\u2019ll see you again sometime.\u201d<\/p>\n

A new film documenting Oasis\u2019 return and comeback tour is in the works, produced by Peaky Blinders\u00a0creator Steven Knight<\/a>. According to reports,\u00a0the forthcoming project will contain some \u201cphenomenal\u201d footage of Liam and Noel\u2019s first meeting ahead of the shows<\/a>.<\/p>\n

NME gave Oasis\u2019 first 2025 show at Cardiff\u2019s Principality Stadium a glowing five-star review<\/a>, writing: \u201cAfter a \u201890s heyday and an often maligned post-millennium era, this is Oasis redesigned for the 21st Century.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlaying before a pop-art-meets-psychedelia visual spectacular that never distracts but will look sick on a phone, they seem the quintessential stadium band playing the greatest hits of greatest hits.\u201d<\/p>\n
