Charli XCX<\/a>\u00a0is set to star alongside\u00a0Supergirl<\/a>\u2019s Milly Alcock in a new horror film from Japanese master Takashi Miike.<\/p>\n

The as-yet-untitled slasher movie is set to start filming in Japan next month, as reported by\u00a0Deadline<\/a>,\u00a0and it sees Miike returning to the genre that saw him become a cult sensation, thanks to the likes of\u00a0Audition\u00a0and\u00a0Ichi the Killer.<\/p>\n

It will see Charli play Katie, a character who meets two old friends in Kyoto, only to become possessed by a nightmarish, violent spirit. Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead<\/a>), Kiko Mizuhara (Attack\u00a0On\u00a0Titan) and Show\u00a0Kasamatsu\u00a0(Tokyo Vice) will co-star.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, Charli confirmed her involvement in the project, writing on X: \u201cI am so honored to be working with takashi miike as a producer and an actor, literally a dream come true!!!!\u201d<\/p>\n

The announcement is a continuation of Charli\u2019s increasing involvement in the film industry.<\/p>\n

Her\u00a0satirical\u00a0mockumentary\u00a0The Moment<\/a>, which is situated amid the global hysteria around Brat Summer<\/a> and its accompanying tour, is hitting UK cinemas on February 20, while Emerald Fennell<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0Wuthering Heights<\/a>, for which\u00a0Charli\u00a0has created an original soundtrack<\/a>, is out on Friday (February 13).<\/p>\n

She also has another independent film in cinemas\u00a0at the moment\u00a0\u2013 Julia Jackman\u2019s\u00a0period fantasy\u00a0100 Nights\u00a0Of\u00a0Hero \u2013 while other\u00a0upcoming\u00a0projects\u00a0including\u00a0indie drama Erupcja <\/a>and satirical thriller Sacrifice.<\/p>\n

She will also star opposite\u00a0Natalie Portman<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0The\u00a0Gallerist and she is set to make an appearance in\u00a0I Want Your Sex\u00a0<\/a>with\u00a0Olivia Wilde<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Charli said last year that\u00a0she was \u201ccurrently feeling more inspired by film than by music\u201d after being left \u201cstuck, empty and barren\u201d after her breakthrough album \u2018Brat\u2018<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere,\u00a0she\u00a0made an appearance with\u00a0her friend and collaborator Rachel Sennott in a Super Bowl advert\u00a0for the\u00a0drinks\u00a0brand\u00a0Poppi<\/a>.<\/p>\n
