Jonjoe Kenny reckons his disappointing loan stint at Celtic <\/a>was simply a case of being in the ‘wrong place at the wrong time’.<\/p>\n

But the full back is now delighted to have been reunited with one of his pals from Glasgow at Greek giants PAOK.<\/p>\n

After racking up dozens of first team appearances for boyhood club Everton<\/a>, Kenny was brought to Parkhead by Neil Lennon<\/a> on loan for the second half of the 2020\/21 season. However, he arrived at a time where the Hoops were in the midst of a disastrous defence of their Premiership title defence.<\/p>\n

Kenny<\/a> failed to make an impression in his 16 outings in the green-and-white, and just weeks after his arrival, boss Lennon was given the boot as Rangers went onto complete an unbeaten season to clinch the league championship, a staggering 25 points behind their city rivals.<\/p>\n

Kenny left the Toffees to sign for Hertha Berlin in 2022, having previously spent time out on loan in Germany with Schalke.<\/p>\n

After three years at the Olympiastadion he then headed out to Thessaloniki on a free transfer last summer, where he was quickly joined by Greg Taylor, who penned a three-year deal with PAOK after the end of his contract at Celtic.<\/p>\n

Kenny also previously played against the fellow defender during his time in England’s youth set-up against Scotland and is chuffed to have a familiar face with him so far from home.<\/p>\n

Speaking about his spell at Celtic with ex Parkhead youngster Paul Slane on Open Goal<\/a>, he said: “Yeah, Greg\u2019s my boy. I met him before Celtic\u2026.I was on a lads holiday, and we got chatting and that. He played for Scotland under-21s at the time.<\/p>\n

“And obviously, I went to Celtic. The club\u2019s massive, and everyone knows what it means to people. I\u2019ve got family members who are big Celtic fans, and I knew what it meant.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut it\u2019s just wrong place at the wrong time. The club wasn\u2019t going through a good time; I think Rangers had already won the league at the time, hadn\u2019t they?<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve just gone to get game time and obviously play for a massive club\u2026 (laughs) obviously, it\u2019s just went the other way.<\/p>\n

\u201cListen, you\u2019ve got to bounce back. It\u2019s football, do you know what I mean?
