\n A spokesperson for West Sussex County Council said the road will remain closed overnight as a result of continued flooding.\n<\/p>\n
\n “We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide further updates as necessary”, they said.\n<\/p>\n
\n They emphasised the risks of ignoring road closures and reminded the public that entering floodwaters can delay reopening efforts and force water into nearby homes.\n<\/p>\n
\n The spokesperson said: “Our officers are there to help, they are not there to be abused either verbally or physically, and we urge the public to recognise this.\n<\/p>\n
\n “We want to resolve the issues faced due the adverse weather as much as the public and ask for patience whilst we do so.”\n<\/p>\n
\n They added that drivers’ insurance may also be invalid if their car breaks down due to entering water.\n<\/p>\n

\n The incident comes as West Sussex continues to grapple with significant disruption caused by recent heavy rainfall.\n<\/p>\n
\n The A29 has been particularly badly affected by the recent weather, and work is underway to erect a temporary ramp over flooding at Sack Lane, to enable vehicle access for residents.\n<\/p>\n
