Mena Suvari (American Beauty) stars as the legendary Elizabeth B\u00e1thory, leading a coven of bloodsuckers hunt their prey on dating apps in Vampires of the Velvet Lounge.<\/p>\n

The horror comedy opens in select theaters March 20 via Strand Releasing. Sink your fangs into the trailer below.<\/p>\n

Deep in the American South, a back alley absinthe bar harbors a deadly secret: Countess Elizabeth B\u00e1thory and her glamorous coven of vampires keep their killer instincts sharp by preying on lonely singles through dating apps, seducing and slaughtering to preserve their youth.<\/p>\n

But when Elizabeth swipes right on the wrong profiles \u2014 a cunning undercover vampire hunter and a band of emotionally stunted bros \u2014 the hunt spirals into hilariously horrifying chaos.<\/p>\n

Blood flies, fangs pierce flesh, and the bar erupts into a glitter-soaked, green fairy-winged, fang-filled fever dream of grindhouse gore, terrible decisions, and fashionably fatal carnage.<\/p>\n

Suvari stars with\u00a0Dichen Lachman (\u201cSeverance\u201d), Stephen Dorff (Blade), India Eisley (Underworld: Awakening), Tom Berenger (Platoon), Rosa Salazar (Alita: Battle Angel), and Tyrese Gibson (Fast & Furious franchise).<\/p>\n

Lochlyn Munro (Freddy vs. Jason), Sarah Dumont (Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse), Mark Boone, Jr. (\u201cSons of Anarchy\u201d), Sherman Augustus (\u201cStranger Things\u201d), and Timothy Murphy (\u201cTrue Detective\u201d) round out the cast.<\/p>\n

Wristcutters: A Love Story producer Adam Sherman writes and directs, in addition to producing alongside Marcus Englefield and George Lee. Brian O\u2019Shea, Nat McCormick, and Danny Gusman executive produce.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a vampire story inspired by the chilling, lesser-known legend of Elizabeth B\u00e1thory, the 16th-century Hungarian countess rumored to bathe in the blood of virgins to stay young,\u201d said Sherman. \u201cI set out to make the kind of horror film I loved growing up: one that\u2019s wild, disturbing, darkly funny, and made for the big screen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vampires of the Velvet Lounge is rated R for \u201cstrong bloody violence, gore, language, and brief nudity.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
