\nIt was a great week for UAE, but it was arguably even better for Team Jayco AlUla<\/a>. The Australian team didn’t earn as many UCI points as UAE, but they claimed a victory in the Muscat Classic with Mauro Schmid, granting 250 points. The Swiss rider has proven to be in outstanding shape at the beginning of the 2026 season, and he already added two victories to his tally, besides of a second place in the GC of the Tour Down Under in mid-January.<\/p>\n

His win came after a textbook team effort, as Luke Plapp was instrumental in helping Schmid secure the first place. The Aussie finished in third place himself, getting 140 points. Jayco did not compete in Spain or France throughout the week, so they could not increase their tally even more, allowing some teams to get closer in the ranking.<\/p>\n

This was the case of Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe<\/a>, which stormed third place thanks to Remco Evenepoel<\/a>. The Belgian rider continued his excellent season debut in Spain, securing the GC of Volta Comunitat Valenciana, plus two stages. Notwithstanding the neutralization of the time trial (the stage was ridden but times did not count for the GC due to strong gusts of wind), he went full gas and won it. He went on to win the queen stage afterwards as well, dropping everyone else with a powerful acceleration and winning solo.He earned over 300 points all by himself during the week, but he was not the only Red Bull Bora delivering strong performances. Both Giulio Pellizzari<\/a> and Aleksandr Vlasov were very active throughout the race, both finishing in the top 10 (Pellizzari was third, Vlasov was seventh) despite working as domestiques for Remco. A great collective effort overall by the German team, lifting them to the third place in the ranking with 1527 points.\"pellizzari\"\/<\/p>\n

Pellizzari is expected to ride the Giro d’Italia this year<\/p>\n

They overtook XDS Astana Team, even if the Kazakh team added almost 500 points to their tally. Christian Scaroni has been one of the strongest riders this season, and he was fourth in the Muscat Classic, while Henok Mulubrhan was eighth. They didn’t compete in Spain or France, but they were instead busy with national championships. The Asian Continental Championships took place in Saudi Arabia, and Astana completely dominated the competition.<\/p>\n

Yevgeniy Fedorov won the time trial, with Nicolas Vinokurov coming in second place. Both riders were also second in the mixed relay team time trial. The road race takes place February 11, and they are also expected to come on top. Meanwhile, Guilermo Thomas Silva was third in both the Uruguayan road race and time trial nationals. Both the nationals and continentals give tons of points, and Astana are capitalizing on that.<\/p>\n
