The practice\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0Heritage Quad and Technology Hub at the York Minster Centre of Excellence have both been named among the region\u2019s finalists \u2013 the first step on the journey towards the 2026 Stirling Prize.<\/p>\n

The shortlist also includes a four bedroom Passivhaus family home near Holmfirth by phi Architects, 12-storey office buildings at Wellington Place<\/a> in Leeds by tp bennett, a house in North Yorkshire by Sadler Brown Architects-Group<\/a> with Rural Solutions, the conversion of a former bed and breakfast into a fully wheelchair-accessible home by ArkleBoyce<\/a>, and the revamp of the listed Calverley Old Hall by Cowper Griffith Architects<\/a>.<\/p>\n

RIBA Yorkshire jury chair Charlotte Harrison, a partner at Mass Architecture, said: \u2018This year\u2019s shortlist of seven projects embodied a high level of architectural quality across a broad spectrum of criteria.\u2019<\/p>\n

She said the projects ranged from \u2018a large-scale city centre office development and a centre for the advancement of heritage skills to the reuse of a Grade I-listed hall and a secluded residence within a regenerated landscape setting\u2019, adding: \u2018I\u2019m excited to visit the projects across Yorkshire alongside the jury.\u2019<\/p>\n

A regional jury will visit all the shortlisted projects, and the winners will be announced later this spring.<\/p>\n

These will then be considered for several RIBA Yorkshire Special Awards, including the Sustainability Award and Yorkshire Building of the Year, before being considered for an\u202fRIBA National Award<\/a>, which will be announced in the summer.<\/p>\n

Last year<\/a>, De Matos Ryan\u2019s \u2018controlled and considered\u2019 new gallery at York\u2019s National Railway Museum was crowned RIBA Yorkshire\u2019s Building of the Year and was one of five projects in Yorkshire to pick up regional gongs.<\/p>\n

It also earned practice director Jose Esteves de Matos the region\u2019s Project Architect of the Year title.<\/p>\n

The shortlist for the\u202fRIBA Stirling Prize<\/a>\u202f\u2013 for the UK\u2019s best new building \u2013 will be drawn from the RIBA National Award-winning projects and be announced in September. The Stirling Prize winner will be named in October.<\/p>\n
