The update of his facial surgery was shared by the England captain himself, who took to his official Instagram story, posting an image showing his bruised and swollen right eye and cheek.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, after Ben Stokes revealed that he had been hit by a ball on his face, there were reports that disclosed the whole incident that took place at Durham\u2019s indoor cricket centre.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Speaking to The Sun, Durham\u2019s head coach, Ryan Campbell, said: \u201cStokesy said he broke the No. 1 rule of being a coach in the nets: never turn your back on the batter.\u201d<\/p>\n
Yes, you read that right. Ben Stokes ended up turning his head towards the ball hit by the young keeper-batter Robbie Bowman during a net session. The head coach further revealed:<\/p>\n
\u201cBy chance, our medical team were at the ground doing simulations. Suddenly, they had a real emergency to deal with. Robbie hit the ball hard. Players shouted out a warning but Stokesy ended up turning his head towards the ball. Scottie Borthwick, his great mate, drove him to hospital and our physio went as well. I\u2019ll tell you this because Stokesy never would. He phoned Robbie Bowman from his hospital and told him not to worry. He\u2019d have known that Robbie would have been beside himself but Ben said it was his fault. That sums up the sort of bloke Stokesy is,\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
It has to be noted that Ben Stokes was already recovering from an adductor injury that he suffered during the 5th Test match of the ongoing Ashes series in Sydney last month. The 34-year-old had a disappointing Ashes tour as his team ended the series in a 4-1 defeat. Though Stokes has expressed his desire to continue leading the side, the final decision will be taken by the England Cricket Board (ECB).<\/p>\n
Ben Stokes will be next seen in action during the first Test match of England\u2019s much-awaited home series against New Zealand in June.<\/p>\n
England Players To Miss PSL 2026 Season<\/p>\n
Reports have emerged regarding the unavailability of the England players for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026, which is scheduled to begin on March 26th. Many England players are set to miss Pakistan\u2019s tournament even though they were not selected for the 2026 edition of the Indian Premier League.<\/p>\n
Adil Rashid, Joe Root, and Jamie Smith were set to play in PSL 2026, but they won\u2019t be available because of NOC issues. England\u2019s white-ball captain Harry Brook will also skip the IPL due to personal reasons. Jonny Bairstow is facing similar NOC problems and won\u2019t play in PSL 2026 either.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Mark Wood is still recovering from the injury he picked up during the 2025\/26 Ashes tour, which already forced him to miss the last four Tests against Australia. Chris Woakes will not enter the PSL 2026 auction as he is busy with a full English domestic season that includes the County Championship, Vitality Blast, and One-Day Cup.<\/p>\n
