{"id":421301,"date":"2026-02-12T06:30:07","date_gmt":"2026-02-12T06:30:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/421301\/"},"modified":"2026-02-12T06:30:07","modified_gmt":"2026-02-12T06:30:07","slug":"weekly-chai-chat-features-the-united-kingdom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/421301\/","title":{"rendered":"Weekly Chai Chat features the United Kingdom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Students passed around tea and biscuits in the Honors College and International Center as they settled in to discuss the United Kingdom during WKU Global\u2019s weekly Chai Chat.<\/p>\n<p>Wes Watkins, manager of WKU Global Learning and Student Success, began the event by delivering a short presentation about the U.K. Watkins discussed the country\u2019s history, geography and culture.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After the presentation, staff passed out raspberry and orange Jaffa Cakes and chamomile tea as the group gathered to play Kim\u2019s Game, a popular children\u2019s game in the U.K. that utilizes observation and active recall.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In recent years, weekly chats were often held by international students or students who have studied abroad during college to advise other students interested in studying abroad. Watkins said the event\u2019s true goal is to help students relax from their busy schedules, enjoy a new culture and learn something new.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c(Chai Chats) get students comfortable with seeing us and asking questions, and if that results in some sort of connection with international students or students studying abroad, that\u2019s great, but it\u2019s also just a break,\u201d Watkins said.<\/p>\n<p>WKU Global <a href=\"https:\/\/wkuherald.com\/63754\/life\/chai-chat-offers-students-glimpse-into-peruvian-culture\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">first introduced<\/a> Chai Chats in 2022 as a monthly event. However, as more students showed interest in presenting and attending, the office decided to test the event as a weekly endeavor, Watkins said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome of it has been student-driven, like if there are popular study abroad programs, if there are locations where staff have recently traveled, or if it\u2019s an international student\u2019s home country. It all depends,\u201d Waktins said.<\/p>\n<p>The U.K. is one of WKU\u2019s most popular study abroad locations.
