\n\t On Wednesday, Blake Lively<\/a> and Justin Baldoni<\/a> met in a Manhattan courtroom, face-to-face for the first time in years, as the two are being forced to attempt a last-ditch effort to settle the messy web of accusations<\/a> each has made in lawsuits filed against one another following the production of the 2024 movie It Ends With Us<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe surprise hit romantic drama\u2019s two leads were spotted heading into the federal court in Manhattan on Wednesday. And in what was most certainly accidental, both wore nearly matching olive green \u2014 Lively donned a suit, and Baldoni wore an overcoat; both actors even added a similar touch of pink \u2014 hers with a shirt and his with a scarf. It is unclear how long the settlement conference will last, as the negotiation in the bitter battle could take any number of days to settle. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe two had not been in the same room since principal photography on It Ends With Us was completed in early 2024. Baldoni\u2019s absence from joint events on the publicity tour for the film that summer led tensions on the film\u2019s set and through its post-production to burst into public view. As rumors swirled about Lively commissioning a second edit of the movie and gossip regarding alleged on-set misconduct causing the rift between Lively, who portrays the film\u2019s domestic abuse survivor heroine, and Baldoni, the film\u2019s director and male lead, he hired a public relations team.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn December 2024, Lively filed a legal complaint<\/a> with the California Civil Rights Department, accusing Baldoni, producer Jamey Heath, and Wayfarer Studios of creating a hostile work environment and retaliating against her for reporting misconduct. She claimed both men entered her on-set trailer while she was undressed and that Baldoni improvised unwanted kissing and discussed his sex life on set. She also claimed in the complaint that he targeted her in a PR campaign that planted negative stories about her in the press; soon, the skirmish between the two actors became an all-out war.<\/p>\n

\n\tMonths after that filing, a federal judge\u00a0in New York tossed out<\/a> Baldoni and Wayfarer\u2019s $400 million defamation and extortion lawsuit against Lively. The judge determined, among other rulings, that her allegations of sexual harassment on the It Ends With Us set are legally protected and therefore immune from the suit.<\/p>\n

\n\tBaldoni has also filed a defamation lawsuit against The New York Times, which published Lively\u2019s complaint in a feature on the intense public relations campaign that emerged against her. He alleges defamation because, he claims, the paper \u201ccherry-picked\u201d and \u201caltered communications\u201d while writing about facts out of context. Meanwhile, a flurry of lawsuits has been filed among the PR reps<\/a>, accusing each other of defamation and attempts to cover up Baldoni\u2019s behavior on set. The filings have provided a candid view into the world of crisis PR management among Hollywood\u2019s elite.<\/p>\n

\n\tWednesday\u2019s meetup in a Manhattan courtroom, which came ahead of the trial related to Lively\u2019s complaint, set to begin May 18, will see Magistrate Judge Sarah Cave attempt to persuade the two to begin settlement discussions. Meanwhile, filings in the case have exposed communications among several celebrities, including Lively\u2019s husband, Ryan Reynolds, and her friend, pop superstar Taylor Swift, as well as several Sony studio executives<\/a> who allegedly bad-mouthed Lively.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Hollywood Reporter reached out to attorneys representing Lively and Baldoni, but we did not hear back on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
