West Ham\u2019s FA Cup trip to face Burton Albion on Saturday could be affected by a weather warning that has been issued.<\/p>\n
In the lead-up to the tie, the Met Office<\/a> has issued a yellow weather warning for ice on 14 February, with the Hammers set to kick off at 12.15pm.<\/p>\n The weather warning could affect travel plans, with the warning stating rain and sleet will make their way southwards over England and Wales, including the Burton area.<\/p>\n With temperatures expected to drop below freezing, this leads to the risk of ice forming, which could affect the travelling West Ham<\/a> fans, as well as the pitch.<\/p>\n The current weather warning is set to end at 10am on 14 February, so if ice does form on the pitch, it would leave just a couple of hours for it to defrost.<\/p>\n With Burton\u2019s Pirelli Stadium having no undersoil heating, if the pitch does freeze over, it could see the game postponed due to an unplayable pitch.<\/p>\n It is not clear if the Brewers employ frost covers, which could help prevent the pitch from freezing and keep the game on, but they have faced postponements due to frozen pitches in the past.<\/p>\n According to the Met Office, while there is a medium likelihood of ice forming, the impact it will have is low, so that should see the game go ahead as of now.<\/p>\n However, if conditions are worse than feared, there is a chance the referee decides to postpone the game. <\/p>\n For those attending the game, roads could be affected by the icy conditions, so it is best to keep that in mind when making travel arrangements as well.<\/p>\n West Ham set for new challenge against Burton Albion<\/p>\n Throughout the history of English football, West Ham have faced 149 teams in competitive action, but in their FA Cup<\/a> clash on Saturday, that number will reach 150.<\/p>\n The Hammers have never played Burton Albion in any competition since the Brewers were formed in 1950.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n The League One opposition will be looking to cause an upset in this very first meeting, as Nuno Espirito Santo<\/a> cannot afford heads to drop amid a Premier League relegation battle.<\/p>\n While the primary focus is on staying up this season, defeat to weaker opponents could have an adverse effect on the squad.<\/p>\n![\"Weather](\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Weather-warning-1024x576.jpg\")
