{"id":424117,"date":"2026-02-13T19:36:10","date_gmt":"2026-02-13T19:36:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/424117\/"},"modified":"2026-02-13T19:36:10","modified_gmt":"2026-02-13T19:36:10","slug":"setmana-valenciana-cat-ferguson-powers-to-sprint-victory-on-stage-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/424117\/","title":{"rendered":"Setmana Valenciana: Cat Ferguson powers to sprint victory on stage 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"5876169a-cc5b-4437-8db4-b20e3bac6d0a\">Cat Ferguson (Movistar) has continued an exceptional start to the season with another victory, this time on stage 2 at the Setmana Ciclista Volta Femenina de la Comunitat Valenciana.<\/p>\n<p>The 19-year-old capitalised on the element of surprise when she launched an attack just ahead of the final chicane inside 600 metres to go and held off the reduced peloton sprinting all the way to the finish line in Vila-Real.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-seasonal\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"5876169a-cc5b-4437-8db4-b20e3bac6d0a-2\" class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">Letizia Paternoster (Liv AlUla Jayco) sprinted to second place and Letizia Borghesi (AG Insurance-Soudal) third on the day.<\/p>\n<p>You may like<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">&#8220;It was really a team effort. Compared to yesterday, it felt like a different team, almost. We can be super proud of ourselves,&#8221; Ferguson said in a post-race interview.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">&#8220;Lidl-Trek were leading, and we were behind them. We were happy with our position and wanted to move up before the final big turn, about 2km to go. There was a crash with [Elisa] Balsamo, and I hope she is OK.
