This simulation showed what it would look like if you went around Earth at the speed of light, and it\u2019s mind-blowing.<\/p>\n
How fast is the speed of light exactly? 186,000 miles per second \u2013 try to visualize that.<\/p>\n
Well, thanks to a simulation posted to YouTube by Airplane<\/a> Mode, you needn\u2019t imagine any longer.<\/p>\n Buckle up, because it\u2019s time to take a trip around the world in a matter of seconds.<\/p>\n EXPLORE SBX CARS<\/a> \u2013 Supercar auctions starting soon powered by Supercar Blondie<\/p>\n Around the world at the speed of light<\/p>\n If you were to fly around the world at a cruising speed of between 575mph and 600mph, you could theoretically do it within 42 hours.<\/p>\n At the speed of light? It can be done in 0.13 seconds.<\/p>\n Starting in New York City, the simulation passed across the US and over the Pacific Ocean.<\/p>\n Passing over Brisbane, Australia, the simulation cut through Zimbabwe and back over the Atlantic Ocean.<\/p>\n All of that took 0.13 seconds \u2013 aka eight frames.<\/p>\n Isn\u2019t that hard to comprehend?<\/p>\n For the sake of comparison, the simulation also looked at how long it would take to circle the Earth at the speed of sound.<\/p>\n For reference, that\u2019s around 343 miles per second.<\/p>\n So obviously not nearly as fast as the speed of light, but certainly no slouch.<\/p>\n But the full journey around the world wasn\u2019t covered in the video.<\/p>\n Why?
