The taxman is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.publictechnology.net\/2026\/02\/12\/economics-and-finance\/only-4-of-users-signed-up-so-far-for-hmrc-digital-income-tax-ahead-of-april-launch\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">briefing that the figure<\/a> has since risen to 30,000. Only 750,000 short for this year\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Uptake will become mandatory from April under the new regime. The system requires all self-employed taxpayers to sign up now who earn \u00a350,000 a year or more. From 2027 that threshold drops to \u00a330,000, then \u00a320,000 the year after.
