{"id":425087,"date":"2026-02-14T08:45:12","date_gmt":"2026-02-14T08:45:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/425087\/"},"modified":"2026-02-14T08:45:12","modified_gmt":"2026-02-14T08:45:12","slug":"vision-pro-finally-gets-native-youtube-app-with-full-immersive-video-library","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/425087\/","title":{"rendered":"Vision Pro Finally Gets Native \u2018YouTube\u2019 App with Full Immersive Video Library"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Vision Pro users have been waiting over two years for a native YouTube app. Now, it\u2019s finally here\u2014thankfully also including support for immersive videos.<\/p>\n<p>The News<\/p>\n<p>Google first announced that a YouTube app was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roadtovr.com\/youtube-vision-pro-visionos-app-spatial-videos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">\u201con the road map\u201d<\/a> shortly after Vision Pro\u2019s February 2024 launch, although it never gave a specific release window, leaving users searching for alternatives beyond simply opening YouTube in Safari, which notably didn\u2019t include native support for spatial video.<\/p>\n<p>The official YouTube app, which is now available\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/youtube-for-visionos\/id6745572359\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">on the App Store<\/a>, now gives Vision Pro users access to every YouTube video and Short, which includes access to all of the regular YouTube features, such as subscriptions, playlists, and watch history.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/youtube-vision-pro-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-126461\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/youtube-vision-pro-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"3840\" height=\"2160\"  \/><\/a>Image courtesy Apple, Google<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s more, the official YouTube app also comes with support for viewing spatial videos, which including all 3D, VR180, and 360 videos on the platform. Vision Pro users can find them by navigating to the app\u2019s dedicated \u2018Spatial\u2019 tab.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Google maintains YouTube for Vision Pro also includes video playback up to 8K for the M5 version, which was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roadtovr.com\/apple-vision-pro-m5-chip-october-22-launch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">released last October<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>My Take<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s no official explanation out there (yet), although there are probably a few reasons why YouTube didn\u2019t come to Vision Pro up until now.<\/p>\n<p>The most obvious to me: Apple\u2019s $3,500 XR headset likely presented a limited return on investment for Google, which may or may not have been influenced by the companies\u2019 historical platform rivalry. Notably, there is still no Gmail, Chrome, Docs, Drive, Photos, Maps\u2014no Google-owned app on Vision Pro except\u00a0YouTube right now.<\/p>\n<p>That said, YouTube\u00a0did make a spatial version of its app for Android XR, which was released with Samsung Galaxy XR last October.
