A murder investigation has been launched after a 19-year-old man was fatally stabbed in southeast London.<\/p>\n
The Metropolitan Police responded to reports of an assault on Rye Lane, near the junction of Heaton Road, in Peckham Rye at 7.09pm on Saturday.<\/p>\n
A man was treated by police and the ambulance service at the scene, but died later in hospital, the force said.<\/p>\n
The victim’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.<\/p>\n
No arrests have been made.<\/p>\n
Superintendent Gabriel Cameron, from the Met, said: “No one should lose their life because of knife crime.<\/p>\n
“This morning, family and friends are waking up without their loved one. Our thoughts are with them at this incredibly difficult time.<\/p>\n
“We understand the impact a crime like this has on the community and you can expect to see an increased police presence in the area. If you are a local resident, please do share any concerns with our officers on the ground.<\/p>\n
“In the meantime, our detectives are working meticulously to identify those responsible, and piece together what happened.”<\/p>\n
