Shaheen Shah Afridi faced intense criticism after a challenging outing against India in the T20 World Cup Group A clash on Sunday, February 15. The Pakistan pacer did not complete his full quota of overs, finishing with figures of 2-0-31-1 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup: Updates | Scorecard

While he managed to claim the wicket of Axar Patel, Afridi appeared completely out of rhythm and struggled to find control, making it difficult for Pakistan to maintain momentum in key phases of the innings.

Shaheen was the only pacer Pakistan used on Sunday, as spin dominated the day. In his opening over, the seamer leaked 15 runs, taking the momentum away from Pakistan after Salman Agha dismissed Abhishek Sharma in the first over.

Ishan Kishan attacked immediately, sending a short-of-length delivery over square leg for six. When bowling to Tilak Varma, Afridi struggled to maintain a consistent line and length.

His back-of-the-length cutter at 140kph was met with a solid defensive shot, a fuller delivery outside off swung away without troubling the batsman, and an outswinger aimed at inducing an edge was read well, going past the fielder for four.

Despite varying pace and swing, his lack of consistency allowed the batsmen to dictate terms, giving India a confident start.

SHAHEEN KEEPS STRUGGLING

Afridi returned to bowl the final over and again found it difficult to contain the batsmen, leaking boundaries and misjudging lengths. Shivam Dube punished a slower ball right in the slot for four and added a mis-timed single to long-off.

Rinku Singh capitalized on a misplaced yorker, smashing a six over mid-wicket and casually slicing a slower, wide delivery for another four. Afridi finally found some redemption by taking the wicket of Axar Patel, who was caught at deep mid-wicket.

After Shaheen’s off day, he faced intense criticism online. Some trolled him as “India’s 12th man,” while others jokingly called him an “Indian agent,” drawing comparisons to Ranveer Singh’s character in Dhurandhar. Many fans felt he had completely lost form, describing his performance as lacklustre at best.

T20 World Cup | T20 World Cup Schedule | T20 World Cup Points Table | T20 World Cup Videos | Cricket News | Live Score

Here’s how fans trolled Shaheen Shah Afridi

– Ends

Published By:

sabyasachi chowdhury

Published On:

Feb 15, 2026

Shaheen Shah Afridi faced intense criticism after a challenging outing against India in the T20 World Cup Group…

[34
1721,10229,156801,38596,49474,156802,101,8051,56,54,55
post-427663","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-cricket","tag-cricket","tag-ind-vs-pak","tag-ind-vs-pak-t20-world-cup","tag-india-vs-pakistan","tag-shaheen-shah-afridi","tag-shaheen-shah-afridi-vs-india","tag-sports","tag-t20-world-cup","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-unitedkingdom
["GET
