A number of must-see releases are set to premiere on Netflix<\/a> and Prime Video<\/a> this August that you’ll want to keep an eye out for.<\/p>\n

The streaming services are releasing movies spanning the genres in the next few weeks, including an “unpredictable” Vanessa Kirby thriller and an anticipated murder mystery based on a huge bestseller.<\/p>\n

Here Digital Spy has rounded up five ones to add to your watchlists.<\/p>\n

The Pickup<\/p>\n

Comedy stars Eddie Murphy,<\/a> Keke Palmer<\/a> and Pete Davidson team up for this heist movie, which focuses on two mismatched armoured truck drivers.<\/p>\n

While on a routine cash pickup, the pair are ambushed by criminals who have plans beyond the money, putting them in a deadly pursuit. Amid the chaos, the “unlikely duo must navigate high-risk danger, clashing personalities, and one very bad day that keeps getting worse”.<\/p>\n

Prime Video<\/p>\n

The Pickup comes from director Tim Story, and also features performances from Eva Longoria and Ismael Cruz C\u00f3rdova, as well as former NFL player Marshawn Lynch and WWE<\/a> star Roman Reigns.<\/p>\n

Fixed<\/p>\n

This unique animated comedy focuses on a dog called Bull, who discovers that he is being neutered in the morning. As this huge life-altering event beckons, he gathers his friends for one last adventure.<\/p>\n

Fixed<\/a> has an impressive voice cast led by Idris Elba<\/a>, Kathryn Hahn<\/a> and Adam DeVine, as well as Saturday Night Live<\/a> alumni Fred Armisen, Beck Bennett and Bobby Moynihan.<\/p>\n

Hotel Transylvania’s Genndy Tartakovsky directs and co-writes, and previously described the movie as “an original rated-R animated comedy with feature quality cartoony animation”.<\/p>\n

Night Always Comes<\/p>\n

The Fantastic Four: First Steps<\/a> star Vanessa Kirby leads this “unpredictable and deeply, deeply human” Netflix thriller, which takes place over the course of one evening.<\/p>\n

The story focuses on Lynette, who tries to raise money to save her family home before the clock runs out, confronting her dark past in the process.<\/p>\n

Also starring Jennifer Jason Leigh and Zack Gottsagen, Night Always Comes<\/a> is directed by Benjamin Caron, who teased its “exploration of survival and sacrifice and the idea of quiet heroism” to Tudum<\/a>, adding: “It asks the question, ‘Who gets to feel safe, and at what cost?'”<\/p>\n

The Map That Leads to You<\/p>\n

Based on the book of the same name by JP Monninger, The Map That Leads to You stars Outer Banks<\/a>‘ Madelyn Cline as Heather Mulgrew, a woman who travels Europe with her friends before planning to embark on her perfectly planned life.<\/p>\n

However, she has a chance meeting with Jack (Riverdale<\/a>‘s KJ Apa), which “sparks an unexpected romance that leads to deep emotional discovery”.<\/p>\n

The romantic drama comes from ABBA and What’s Eating Gilbert Grape director Lasse Hallstr\u00f6m, and also stars The School for Good and Evil’s Sofia Wylie and Ozark<\/a>‘s Madison Thompson.<\/p>\n

The Thursday Murder Club<\/p>\n

The long-awaited adaptation of Richard Osman’s bestselling murder mystery series finally hits Netflix later this month. <\/p>\n

Starring Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley and Celia Imrie as the central characters Elizabeth, Ron, Ibrahim and Joyce, The Thursday Murder Club<\/a> follows the four retirees who solve murders for fun, only to find themselves with a real case on their hands.<\/p>\n

Boasting an impressive wider cast that includes David Tennant, Jonathan Pryce, Naomi Ackie, Daniel Mays and Richard E Grant, the movie will no doubt be a cosy crime to tuck into as the autumn months approach.<\/p>\n
