Tyson Fury has revealed his wife Paris and other family members stopped speaking to him after his ‘selfish’ decision to return to boxing.<\/p>\n

The British heavyweight will face Arslanbek Makhmudov later this year, having previously announced his retirement back in January 2025.<\/p>\n

Fury quit boxing after two defeats to Oleksandr Usyk. Before those bouts, the Gypsy King had been undefeated in the ring.<\/p>\n

Yet he’s now decided to come out of retirement for a fifth time, with the 37-year-old due to face Makhmudov on April 11 at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.<\/p>\n

Now, speaking to the Daily Mail, Fury has revealed that his family opposed his decision to end his time in the wilderness.<\/p>\n

He said: “My dad stopped speaking to me for a while. My brothers stopped speaking to me, even Paris. Everybody cut me off.<\/p>\n

“Nobody wanted me to return and they made that clear\u2026 but, it’s my decision and my life.<\/p>\n

“It’s my decision to make, it’s but probably a bit selfish. It’s just I’m at my happiest when I’m in that ring entertaining people and I have no plans to stop any time soon.<\/p>\n

“I’ll probably keep fighting until I’m 50 I’d say.<\/p>\n

“I’m back because I’ve chosen to be back. I’ve chosen boxing because I love boxing. I ain’t boxing because I’ve spent my money and I have to risk my health to make a quid. <\/p>\n

“I get that people want me to move on with my life but it’s just one of those things I can’t.”<\/p>\n

Fury’s two defeats to Usyk in 2024 were both controversial.<\/p>\n

The Briton lost on points in both, with the British icon long expressing his anger at the results. In his eyes, he was the worthy winner.<\/p>\n

Fury, nearly two years on from the first of those contests, continues to stick with that narrative.<\/p>\n

“He never beat me. He cheated. Man, he cheated. He had rockets up his a*s. He cheated.<\/p>\n

“I’ll never agree that he beat me. He’s a cheater and he’s pulling the wool over everyone’s eyes.”<\/p>\n

When quizzed further, Fury continued to stick to his guns.<\/p>\n

“A cheater? Yes. He cheated. He’s a total cheater. I don’t need a psychologist to help me get over those defeats as they weren’t defeats,” he continued.<\/p>\n

“I also don’t need a psychologist to tell me to leave it in 2024, I have worked that out myself.”<\/p>\n

There is nothing to substantiate Fury’s claims about Usyk, who has proceeded to beat Daniel Dubois for a second time since then.<\/p>\n

One of Fury’s old rivals, Deontay Wilder, will return to the ring in April. Wilder is due to face Derek Chisora in London.<\/p>\n
