{"id":430473,"date":"2026-02-17T13:45:07","date_gmt":"2026-02-17T13:45:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/430473\/"},"modified":"2026-02-17T13:45:07","modified_gmt":"2026-02-17T13:45:07","slug":"visma-lease-a-bike-reportedly-seeking-new-title-sponsor-with-visma-set-to-take-a-step-back","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/430473\/","title":{"rendered":"Visma-Lease a Bike reportedly seeking new title sponsor with Visma set to take a step back"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"ff4763be-784f-4aef-a1f0-8ea01f2ebbf4\"><a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/road\/teams\/uci-worldtour\/2026\/visma-lease-a-bike\/\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/road\/teams\/uci-worldtour\/2026\/visma-lease-a-bike\/\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/road\/teams\/uci-worldtour\/2026\/visma-lease-a-bike\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Visma-Lease a Bike<\/a> are seeking a new title sponsor as the Dutch team seek to keep up in cycling&#8217;s budgetary arms race with other top teams including UAE Team Emirates-XRG, Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe, Decathlon-CMA CGM, and Lidl-Trek.<\/p>\n<p>Visma, a Norwegian business software company, is not prepared to continue increasing its budget and will instead take a step back from the team, without pulling away entirely.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-seasonal\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"ff4763be-784f-4aef-a1f0-8ea01f2ebbf4-2\" class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">The news was first reported by Dutch website <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wielerflits.be\/nieuws\/visma-lease-a-bike-zoekt-nieuwe-hoofdsponsor-voor-next-step\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.wielerflits.be\/nieuws\/visma-lease-a-bike-zoekt-nieuwe-hoofdsponsor-voor-next-step\/\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">WielerFlits<\/a> on Tuesday and later confirmed to Cyclingnews by sources within the team.<\/p>\n<p>You may like<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">The Dutch team are looking to continue competing with the sport&#8217;s other &#8216;super-teams&#8217;, including UAE, backed by the oil-rich Middle Eastern state, and Red Bull, Decathlon, and Lidl, who are all owned by their title sponsors and so can pour further funding into the squads.<\/p>\n<p>Visma-Lease a Bike aren&#8217;t in danger of folding or ceasing operations; the team will continue with its current range of sponsors, including Lease a Bike, Rabobank and PON, which owns Cerv\u00e9lo. However, in order to stay competitive at the very top of the sport, higher budgets are needed in the coming years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">Discussions, led by team boss Richard Plugge, with prospective sponsors, including large multi-national companies, are said to have been underway for a number of months.<\/p>\n<p>The <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/pro-cycling\/where-do-cyclings-super-teams-spend-their-millions\/\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/pro-cycling\/where-do-cyclings-super-teams-spend-their-millions\/\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/pro-cycling\/where-do-cyclings-super-teams-spend-their-millions\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">average men&#8217;s WorldTour team budget in 2025 was \u20ac32 million<\/a>, with UAE at the top of the list at \u20ac60 million. The biggest teams in the sport, including Visma, have budgets over \u20ac40 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"newsletter-form__strapline\">The latest race content, interviews, features, reviews and expert buying guides, direct to your inbox!<\/p>\n<p><a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/moneyinsport.substack.com\/p\/team-visma-lease-a-bikes-61m-loss?utm_medium=web&amp;triedRedirect=true&amp;utm_source=substack\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/moneyinsport.substack.com\/p\/team-visma-lease-a-bikes-61m-loss?utm_medium=web&amp;triedRedirect=true&amp;utm_source=substack\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Money in Sport<\/a>&#8216;s report on Visma-Lease a Bike&#8217;s finances showed that the team \u2013 including the women&#8217;s and development squads \u2013 had revenues of \u20ac52 million in 2024, with operating costs of almost \u20ac59 million, resulting in a \u20ac6 million loss.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">Both Visma and Lease a Bike are on board as sponsors after signing permanent contracts with the team in 2024.
