Garcia also said he \u201cshould have listened\u201d to what Canelo Alvarez allegedly told him about Golden Boy and De La Hoya. Those sides split with major issues between Canelo and De La Hoya back in 2020, and Canelo has been a vocal critic of De La Hoya and Golden Boy in the years following.<\/p>\n
Garcia and De La Hoya have done this dance before on a couple of occasions. In the past, it let to revised or renewed deals with Golden Boy.<\/p>\n
For his part, De La Hoya did openly admit on Saturday night, interviewed on DAZN during Golden Boy\u2019s event in Chicago, that he\u2019s not looking to make a Rolly rematch for Garcia.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo, I actually don\u2019t (like the idea),\u201d De La Hoya said. \u201cBecause the first fight was a dull fight, and when you\u2019re a promoter and you\u2019re trying to make rematches, it\u2019s because the people wanna see it. The first fight wasn\u2019t that entertaining, the first fight wasn\u2019t a big deal.<\/p>\n
\u201cI believe there\u2019s other opponents out there for Ryan. There\u2019s other big names out there, big fights we can make with the likes of Teofimo and other fighters out there. But first things first, I need Ryan to be in great health.\u201d<\/p>\n
