Tommy Fleetwood secured a huge payday at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am following the end of his sponsorship agreement with Nike. Fleetwood ended the PGA Tour<\/a>‘s first signature event of the season on 20-under after a final round 66, which marked his strongest round of the tournament.<\/p>\n

The Englishman finished level with Scottie Scheffler<\/a> in T4, two shots behind eventual champion Collin Morikawa. Fleetwood had a late opportunity to reach 21-under but came up short with his eagle chip at the final hole. Still, the world No. 4 collected a substantial \u00a3640,000 in prize money for his efforts. His earnings came after the 35-year-old announced the end of his Nike contract ahead of the Dubai Invitational in January.<\/p>\n

But he competed at Pebble Beach as a free agent, having not signed a big-money contract yet. After being tied to Nike for over a decade, Fleetwood has already been spotted wearing various sportswear brands this year, including Lululemon, Vuori and even Masters-branded clothing.<\/p>\n

Last week, he dressed himself in Pebble Beach merchandise from the club shop and seemed thrilled to be relying on his own wardrobe.<\/p>\n

Following his opening round at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, he explained: “Our contract was ending and it just turned out like we sort of didn\u2019t end up in a place where I\u2019m wearing Nike stuff this year. Who knows what\u2019s going to happen in the future. But this is cool. I don\u2019t know, I feel like I\u2019m a big golf fan.<\/p>\n

“I really like golf stuff, so it\u2019s quite nice to be wearing Pebble Beach clothing. I mean, my kids would absolutely love this stuff so I feel pretty lucky to have it on.”<\/p>\n

As one of golf’s most recognisable figures, Fleetwood won’t struggle to attract interest from brands eager to have him wear their apparel. Yet, he’s in no hurry to commit to anything, with there seemingly being no ongoing talks over a new sponsorship deal.
