Picture: Andy Jones<\/p>\n<p>The event draws in thousands of spectators to the venue in Broomfield Road, Maidstone, each summer for a celebration of music transcending genres and eras.<\/p>\n<p>Crowds trudge through the medieval grounds laden with picnic baskets, camping chairs and even candelabras to enjoy the music.<\/p>\n<p>The International Gospel Choir, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and stars of the West End are among those who have taken to the stage to perform.<\/p>\n<p>The concert concludes with a spitfire fly-overs and a fireworks finale.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"rthmb\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg xmlns=\" http:=\"\" viewbox=\"0 0 1956 1426\" alt=\"The Leeds Castle classical concert in 2024\" data-root=\"\/_media\/img\/\" data-path=\"SMEZ3SBIQCHK2HXMOAQM.jpg\" data-ar=\"1.37\"\/>The Leeds Castle classical concert in 2024<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s event is on Saturday, July 11, with tickets currently on sale. But now Leeds Castle unexpectedly announced that after 48 years, this concert will be its last.<\/p>\n<p>Fiona Pollard CBE, managing director of Heritage Events, said: \u201cFor everyone involved, delivering the Leeds Castle Concert has been a real honour.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve shared some exceptional evenings with wonderful audiences and, after more than a decade, we\u2019ve decided that the 2026 concert will be the last.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur focus now is on bringing everything people love about this event together &#8211; the music, the atmosphere and the magic of this place &#8211; for one final truly memorable celebration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"rthmb\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg xmlns=\" http:=\"\" viewbox=\"0 0 3620 2472\" alt=\"The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra performing at the concert. Picture: Andy Jones<\/p>\n<p>A spokesman for Leeds Castle explained that the 2026 event will serve as a final tribute to both the event and the loyal supporters who have attended over the years. Audiences can look forward to a thoughtfully curated programme, featuring a full live orchestra and many beloved musical moments.<\/p>\n<p>As always, the evening will culminate with a spectacular fireworks display reflected across the Castle\u2019s moat, creating an unforgettable final celebration.<\/p>\n<p>John Rigby, the concert\u2019s long-standing conductor and creative heart, added: \u201cThere is something truly special about performing with the RPO on stage at the Leeds Castle Concert. The music feels woven into the place itself, and the atmosphere is unlike anywhere else \u2014 from the flags waving and the cannons firing to the final fireworks lighting up the Castle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe 2026 concert will be full of warmth and joy &#8211; a night for everyone who has ever stood on those lawns, singing along as the sun sets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Looking ahead, Leeds Castle is considering options for a future live music experience, recognising that the live music landscape and audience expectations have evolved over time.
