Plans have gone in to work on a building at Stone Lake retail park in Charlton for another gym.<\/p>\n
A mezzanine floor would be built within the former Carpetright unit.<\/p>\n
This will be the third private gyms in Charlton in close proximity with Anytime Fitness and Puregym. The name of the gym hasn\u2019t yet been disclosed but I\u2019ll keep an eye out and update when known.<\/p>\n
Greenwich Council formerly had a gym nearby too operated by GLL under the \u201cBetter\u201d brand which if memory serves was in the Valley? I really should remember given I would visit on occasion when I had a borough-wide membership.<\/p>\n
To be honest I wasn\u2019t even aware it had closed!<\/p>\n
Mind you it was so far back the old Plumstead gym wasn\u2019t in what is now the Plumstead Centre.<\/p>\n
Stone Lake retail park opened in Charlton back in 1998 around the time the road between Woolwich and Greenwich saw major works in advance of the Millennium Dome opening.<\/p>\n
They built a huge car park which was never full. Much has been blocked for years. It\u2019d be an ideal spot for new housing.<\/p>\n
The stretch of carriageway outside is set to see major changes in the near future for a cycle lane \u2013 but that\u2019s an issue for another post.<\/p>\n
