DONALD Trump has been given the go-ahead to build a “surveillance bunker” at one of his Scottish golf courses.<\/p>\n
The US president is set to tear out a lounge at one of the outbuildings at his Trump Turnberry course in Ayrshire to create a new dedicated security room.<\/p>\n
The Mirror<\/a> reports that plans lodged for the so-called “surveillance bunker” will feature desk spaces, a toilet and a cloakroom area \u2013 while windows and doors will also be replaced to create a new access ramp.<\/p>\n US president Donald Trump<\/p>\n The building is currently used for staff accommodation.<\/p>\n Other rooms, including a kitchen, lounge and bedroom are also set for a refurbishment under the proposals.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Scottish fishing village inspires setting for new Silent Hill game<\/a><\/p>\n According to The Mirror, a description of the approved plans reads: “Proposed sub-division and change of use of existing staff accommodation to form a security room, including replacement windows and doors with formation of new external accessible ramp.”<\/p>\n A report to South Ayrshire Council recommended the proposals be approved.<\/p>\n “It is determined that the proposed part change of use of the property, as well as the proposed alterations to the building’s exterior and sub-division of the existing property shall be acceptable, with it being considered that the proposed change of use shall be limited in scale, contained within the existing building, and represents a function ancillary to the operations of the wider Turnberry Resort within which the site is bound,” it said.<\/p>\n “Moreover, it is considered that the proposed alterations to the exterior of the property shall be consistent with the design of the original property and sympathetic to the visual character of the wider area.”<\/p>\n Trump was previously given the green light to have five new security gates installed at key entry points at the South Ayrshire golf course.<\/p>\n It comes after Trump Turnberry was targeted last March<\/a> in a protest over the US president’s position on Gaza<\/a>.<\/p>\n An image of the protest in March 2025 at Trump Turnberry (Image: Milo Chandler)<\/p>\n Members of Palestine<\/a> Action dug up the greens and spray painted the words “Gaza is not for sale”.<\/p>\n The incident took place before the group was proscribed as a terrorist organisation<\/a> by the UK Government<\/a>.<\/p>\n A number of people were arrested in connection with the incident, with the latest arrest coinciding with Trump’s state visit<\/a> to the UK in July.<\/p>\n During his visit, the US president visited Trump Turnberry, where he met with Prime Minister Keir Starmer.<\/a><\/p>\n
