Former Coronation Street actress Helen Flanagan has received an outpouring of support after candidly discussing her mental health struggles including OCD in her new memoir Head and Heart\"An<\/p>\n

Helen recently released her debut ‘tell-all’ autobiography<\/p>\n

Helen Flanagan has been flooded with messages of support after revealing her immense pride in her latest venture, which sees her openly sharing her personal mental health journey.<\/p>\n

The former Coronation Street<\/a> star, who resides in Lancashire, recently released her debut ‘tell-all’ autobiography, Head and Heart: Break-ups, Breakdowns and Being Rosie, billed as a “powerful, frank, and moving memoir” that chronicles Helen’s life from her early years through to today and all the moments in between.<\/p>\n

Within the pages, the mum-of-three speaks frankly about her challenges. “I really wanted to write about my experiences with mental health. So I kind of wanted the book really to be more of a mental health book,” the 35 year old recently shared with presenter Lorraine Kelly on her eponymous ITV<\/a> show.<\/p>\n

“It wasn’t kind of really supposed to be a memoir, but I kind of think when you talk about mental health, and you talk about your experiences, then you have to kind of paint the whole picture.”<\/p>\n

Amongst the subjects Helen tackles in her book is OCD, something she revealed she hadn’t realised she suffered from until spotting the symptoms in mental health campaigner Bryony Gordon’s book. Helen, who shot to stardom playing Rosie Webster in ITV’s Corrie, has shared her pride weeks following her book’s launch, reports Lancs Live<\/a>.<\/p>\n

She shared a video on Instagram<\/a> declaring: “It’s something that I’m really proud of. The book was never meant to be a memoir or anything but I wanted to talk about mental health because that is something I feel passionate about.”<\/p>\n

The former Blackburn student, who shares Matilda, Delilah and Charlie with her ex-fianc\u00e9 and former Preston North End star Scott Sinclair, added: “I don’t have the answers or anything, I just wanted my book to be a comfort and to talk about my experiences and my struggles with mental health in hope it may be a comfort to other.”<\/p>\n

Accompanying her post, Helen wrote: “Super proud of my book- Head and Heart, now available to buy in @waterstones. I felt super lucky to have the opportunity to have the platform to be able to write about mental health @mirror.books. OCD is something close to my heart and I was inspired by the lovely @bryonygordon to talk about mine. Sending lots of love.”<\/p>\n
