Bethesda bigwig Todd Howard has finally touched base on when we can expect an update on Starfield<\/a>, which has been strongly rumoured to release on PS5 for several years now.<\/p>\n

While he didn\u2019t speak specifically about Sony\u2019s system, he did refer to an upcoming update his team\u2019s been working on, which was actually shown secretly to press and media behind closed doors last year.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Kinda Funny<\/a>, he said:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re moving into a phase where we\u2019re ready to talk about Starfield. We\u2019ve been doing a lot of work we like a lot. It\u2019s not Starfield 2.0, I\u2019ve seen a lot of [people talking about that]. So, for expectation setting, if you already love Starfield I think you\u2019re going to love this. It\u2019s updates and things which change the game not in an isolated way but in a meta way. But if Starfield\u2019s something you didn\u2019t connect with or found boring then I don\u2019t think this is going to change that.\u201d<\/p>\n

So, it doesn\u2019t sound like this is going to be a reinvention of the game like originally rumoured. But it does make sense for the PS5 version to release alongside these alterations, which should hopefully make the whole experience a bit better.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Howard wouldn\u2019t say when the announcement would be made, but he promised it\u2019s \u201ccoming soon\u201d. One previous rumour pegged the reveal for March<\/a> ahead of an April release date<\/a>, which would align with the comments being made here.<\/p>\n

It\u2019ll be interesting to see how well the game resonates on PlayStation, because despite being touted as the next big thing, it\u2019s got a pretty middling reputation these days.<\/p>\n
