Fra Fee<\/a> has weighed in on the debate over straight actors playing queer roles, drawing on his experience as an acclaimed stage actor and his work on screen in both queer and straight roles.<\/p>\n

Speaking in his\u00a0Attitude\u00a0magazine cover interview<\/a>, he stressed that authenticity and commitment are key when straight actors take on queer roles.<\/p>\n

\u201cI certainly feel as though there are [certain] roles that should be reserved for queer actors,\u201d the\u00a0Hawkeye<\/a>\u00a0actor says.<\/p>\n

\u201cI also don\u2019t mind it when a straight person plays a gay character\u201d \u2013 Fra Fee on straight actors playing queer roles<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I also don\u2019t mind it when a straight person plays a gay character really, really successfully,\u201d Fee adds.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe thing that I just can\u2019t abide is when someone [straight] is playing a gay role and isn\u2019t able to, like, fully go there. That frustrates the hell out of me,\u201d he states.<\/p>\n

Fee\u2019s queer roles include Andy in BBC\u2019s\u00a0Lost Boys and Fairies\u00a0(2024) and Kazi Kazimierczak in Marvel<\/a>\u2019s Hawkeye (2021).<\/p>\n

\u201cI fully believe that they are passionately into each other\u201d \u2013 Fee on Heated Rivalry stars Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie<\/p>\n

On queer representation in film, he also shared his thoughts on\u00a0Heated Rivalry<\/a>, the gay hockey series starring Hudson Williams<\/a> and Connor Storrie<\/a>, which has taken the world by storm.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve no idea what the orientation of those two [actors] are, but I fully believe that they are passionately into each other. And that\u2019s all that matters at the end of the day,\u201d Fee adds.<\/p>\n

Speculation surrounding the pair\u2019s sexuality<\/a> has long circulated in the media. Last year, Williams and Storrie spoke with\u00a0Deadline<\/a>, addressing discussion around their off-screen sexualities.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re best friends, and we love expressing that physically\u201d \u2013 Williams on straight actors playing queer roles<\/p>\n

\u201cI think there was never a question for me, when I dreamed of being in the public eye, that I would want a level of privacy,\u201d Williams said.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Heated Rivalry\u00a0actors also weighed in on the debate over queer actors playing queer roles. Williams admitted that he agrees this is important in storytelling:<\/p>\n

\u201cI want queer people telling queer stories, but there\u2019s also the element of Connor and I \u2013 we\u2019re best friends, and we love expressing that physically,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Storrie added that he prefers to keep his personal life separate from the characters he plays. \u201cIt\u2019s important for me to have a little bit of separation from the character in the show,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
