Carlos Alcaraz was involved in a heated exchange with the umpire in his Qatar Open quarter-final clash against Karen Khachanov, with the Spaniard unhappy at being pulled up for a time violation.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The incident happened after Alcaraz celebrated winning an epic point to save a break point. He then went to grab his towel but was given a time violation before he served again.<\/p>\n
Alcaraz was unhappy with the decision and was involved in an exchange. The umpire was heard saying: \u201cI stopped the time.\u201d<\/p>\n
Alcaraz then replied with: \u201cNo you didn\u2019t.\u201d The umpire responded with: \u201cI did. I stopped time at 25 seconds when it started. Then you got the towel. Then I started the clock again.\u201d<\/p>\n
The exchange continued, with Alcaraz saying: \u201cHow much time did you stop the clock? Tell me.”<\/p>\n
She replied with: \u201cCarlos, I stopped it til you reached there. I stopped it at 25 seconds til you actually reached the towel.\u201d<\/p>\n
Alcaraz said: \u201cAlright. So I\u2019m not allowed to go to the towel,” with the umpire again responding with: \u201cI stopped it til you reached the area there where you asked the kid to get the towel\u2026 I can\u2019t cancel it.\u201d<\/p>\n
The initial exchange ended with Alcaraz saying: \u201cI\u2019m not allowed to go to the towel. I\u2019m not allowed.\u201d The umpire adding: \u201cYes I understand. But I can\u2019t do anything.\u201d<\/p>\n
During the exchange, Khachanov also appeared to approach the umpire and reportedly asked for the violation to be cancelled.<\/p>\n
