Robert Kwolek visited recently with his camera and declares\u00a0it the best new\u00a0place built in the UK in decades, bursting with\u00a0lessons for the new towns programme<\/p>\n<p>From London, it is harder to reach Poundbury than I expected. On a good day, a train from Waterloo\u00a0to Dorchester takes two and a half hours. However, delays west of Southampton are common and\u00a0my train ran 10 minutes late.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>My return train was delayed at Southampton, so the journey took three\u00a0hours. It is not a commutable distance from London.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>From either Dorchester South or Dorchester\u00a0West, Poundbury is a short drive, a modest bus ride or a 25-minute walk. I was keen to see Dorchester\u00a0and understand how it links to Poundbury, so I walked up Cornhill and then west along the High Street\u00a0and Bridport Road.
