Can you believe it\u2019s been almost 10 years since Rogue One? Marvel just announced it is celebrating the anniversary with a new miniseries of one-shot comics, each following one (or two) key characters in the events leading up to the film.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Gizmodo\u2019s io9<\/a> has revealed that\u00a0Rogue One: Cassian Andor #1 kicks off the party this May. In Cassian\u2019s story, the timeline between the end of Andor and Rogue One squishes down even more as we see him arrive on Kafrene before he kills Tivik in the opening moments of the film. Then, in June, Jyn Erso takes the spotlight from the Wobani prison. Followed by Saw Gerrera in July, Chirrut and Baze in August, and finally, Darth Vader in September. Each issue will have a different writer and artist.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Benjamin Percy (Shadow of Maul) has the pen for Cassian\u2019s unseen tale. He shares a bit about his mindset heading into the project:<\/p>\n

\u201cRogue One changed Star Wars. The grit and gravity of the tone. The doomed and selfless heroism. The Jedi-less cast of broken, grounded characters. There wasn\u2019t a lightsaber in sight, but there was plenty of blasters, bloody knuckles, and scarred hearts. I have so much love for the original trilogy, but Rogue One has become my favorite of the films.<\/p>\n

When we first meet Cassian Andor, he kills Tivik, a rebel informant, in cold blood. I remember looking around the theater, because I could not believe what I was seeing. That moment on the Ring of Kafrene truly made me understand how different this film was going to be, and I knew I wanted to go exactly there for this opening issue.\u201d<\/p>\n
