He previously held senior positions at SpaceX, Apple, and Nokia, according to his LinkedIn<\/a>\u00a0profile.<\/p>\n This comes at a critical moment for Snap. In September 2025, Spiegel\u00a0noted in\u00a0an open letter<\/a>\u00a0that the company is heading into a make-or-break \u201ccrucible moment\u201d in 2026, positioning Specs are an integral part of the company\u2019s future.<\/p>\n \u201cThis moment isn\u2019t just about survival. As \u2018true\u2019 AR glasses (re: not smart glasses like Meta Ray-Ban Display), the device is ostensibly set to frontrun some of Snap\u2019s largest competitors.<\/p>\n My Take<\/p>\n It\u2019s uncertain why Myers left Snap; the company even disputed the \u201cblow-up\u201d narrative with\u00a0TechCrunch<\/a>, providing no other reasoning, which makes Myers\u2019 departure an even greater mystery\u2014especially on\u00a0the eve of the company\u2019s big consumer AR glasses launch.<\/p>\n Speculatively speaking, there is at least one recent sign that could point to trouble brewing in the background. Myer\u2019s departure follows\u00a0a recent move by the company to form a wholly-owned subsidiary<\/a>\u00a0dedicated to Specs.<\/p>\n Snap says the so-called \u2018Specs Inc\u2019 subsidiary will primarily allow for \u201cnew partnerships and capital flexibility,\u201d including the potential for minority investment.
