Ice Nine Kills<\/a>\u00a0have joined forces with\u00a0Scream\u00a07<\/a>\u00a0star\u00a0Mckenna Grace for a track from the new film \u2013 watch \u2018Twisting\u00a0The\u00a0Knife\u2019 below.<\/p>\n

Grace, who is known for\u00a0The Handmaid\u2019s Tale<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Ghostbusters: Afterlife<\/a>,\u00a0is set to star in the latest entry in the long-running slasher series, which is released in cinemas next week (February 27).<\/p>\n

Scream 7\u00a0sees Neve Campbell,\u00a0David Arquette<\/a>\u00a0and Courteney Cox reprise their roles in the franchise as Campbell\u2019s Sidney Prescott sees her daughter Tatum (Isabel May) targeted by the serial killer Ghostface.<\/p>\n

Now, Grace has joined forces with Boston horror-themed metalcore band Ice Nine Kills, who\u00a0have\u00a0been\u00a0closely associated\u00a0with the\u00a0Terrifier\u00a0films<\/a>, for the single \u2018Twisting The Knife\u2019, a track that will feature on the film\u2019s soundtrack. Ice Nine Kills singer Spencer Charnas has said:\u00a0\u201c\u2019Twisting\u00a0The\u00a0Knife\u2019\u00a0is our tribute to Wes Craven and the\u00a0Scream\u00a0franchise, which means so much to us.\u00a0Scream\u00a0is baked into the DNA of who I am and of Ice Nine Kills: my love of horror, comedy, and the collision between the two.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was already obsessed with\u00a0Halloween\u00a0and\u00a0Friday\u00a0The\u00a013th, but\u00a0Scream\u00a0was the first I saw in theatres. Hearing the killer talk about horror movies, in that distinctively pop-culture savvy Kevin Williamson way, blew my mind.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grace, who\u00a0also has her own singing career,\u00a0has added: \u201cMaking this song was such a special experience for me: I am such a big INK\u00a0fan\u00a0and it was such an amazing opportunity to be able to play with\u00a0a different style\u00a0of music.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am so inspired by\u00a0Amy Lee<\/a>\u2019s vocals and we all wanted to channel\u00a0Scream\u00a0and Sydney\u2019s story as best as we could. Spencer and the guys were so much fun to collaborate with and\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0so thankful to Kevin Williamson.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The production of Scream 7 has been mired in controversy, after\u00a0previous\u00a0star\u00a0Melissa Barrera was fired<\/a>\u00a0after\u00a0social media posts in support of Palestine<\/a>. Some fans vowed to boycott the franchise after the\u00a0decision\u00a0and co-star\u00a0Jenna Ortega later said she would not be returning due to scheduling conflicts<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Campbell,\u00a0who had missed the\u00a0previous\u00a0film due to pay disputes<\/a>, was\u00a0offered the lead role in Scream 7 after Barrera\u2019s\u00a0firing\u00a0and she agreed to return<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0a four-star review of\u00a02023\u2019s\u00a0Scream VI<\/a>,\u00a0NME\u00a0wrote: \u201cScream VI\u00a0isn\u2019t\u00a0perfect: the constant meta references (past killers, the \u2018rules\u2019 of the franchise) felt inventive in last year\u2019s reboot, but\u00a0here\u00a0grow\u00a0tiresome.\u00a0There\u2019s\u00a0also a confusing subplot around Sam\u2019s suppressed desire to emulate her dad (Billy Loomis, the original Ghostface), who appears in hallucinations telling her to murder people.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrow in the usual exposition sessions, which keep the viewer up to date on the plot but make it feel like a Gen Z\u00a0Poirot, and it could all start to get on your nerves. Luckily, such is the sheer, bloody joy of the thing that you\u2019ll be too preoccupied to notice.
