The Kaiser Chiefs<\/a>\u2019 Glastonbury<\/a> 2025 performance was a highlight <\/a>for many at Worthy Farm, but \u2018something terrible happened\u2019. <\/p>\n As the Ruby hitmakers opened the Pyramid Stage for day two of the festival (Saturday, June 27), complaints flooded social media<\/a>.<\/p>\n It turned out the BBC<\/a> had no plans to air the set<\/a>, which marked the iconic band\u2019s 20th anniversary.<\/a><\/p>\n Lead singer Ricky Wilson saw the outcry but admitted it doesn\u2019t feel like a Kaiser Chiefs show when everything is going right.<\/p>\n \u2018We\u2019re most comfortable when things are going wrong, even like when we were the Glastonbury and it was, like, my favourite show ever,\u2019 the 47-year-old musician shared.<\/p>\n Speaking on Radio X with Dan O\u2019Connell, Ricky continued: \u2018Best day. I loved it. The crowd turned up. There was like 100,000 people in the field. Amazing.<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t \u2018Then they said it wasn\u2019t on iPlayer. And I was like, \u201cWell, that\u2019s really rubbish.\u201d<\/p>\n \u2018I\u2019m glad something terrible happened, because it wouldn\u2019t be the Kaiser Chiefs if it all went to plan.\u2019<\/p>\n He added: \u2018The thing is, bands that everything goes really well, then just to suddenly disappear. But bands that go up and down have a need to fight back all the time. <\/p>\n \t\t\t\tGlastonbury 2025 – Latest news\t\t\t<\/p>\n To get more of the latest news from Glastonbury Festival, visit Metro’s dedicated page.<\/a><\/p>\n \u2018It\u2019s weird, because we\u2019re very happy being the underdogs.\u2019<\/p>\n Those underdogs were marking two decades since the release of their debut album, Employment, which was the fourth best-selling album that year.<\/p>\n The record produced iconic hits like Oh My God, I Predict a Riot, and Everyday I Love You Less and Less.<\/p>\n It was shortlisted \u2014 as Ricky said it \u2018came second\u2019 \u2014\u00a0for the Mercury Prize that year but the singer revealed he couldn\u2019t appreciate the success at the time.<\/p>\n \u2018It was weird,\u2019 he shared. \u2018We knew it was going really well; you can\u2019t really compute it when you\u2019re so tired. <\/p>\n \u2018And I think any new band who aren\u2019t feeling like on the verge of death with tiredness, you\u2019re not doing it properly!\u2019<\/p>\n While the set did appear on iPlayer later, fans were furious it wasn\u2019t aired live and were particularly vocal about it on X at the time.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n \t\t Ninety_88 questioned: \u2018How can you put Kaiser Chiefs on to open on a Saturday and not televise it?\u2019<\/p>\n \u2018BBC iPlayer stating they are live, when in actual fact it\u2019s 2 presenters talking and showing the acts from last night, when we have all tuned in to watch Kaiser Chiefs who are actually live on stage now! What a let down,\u2019 added melcastle1875.<\/p>\n The I Predict A Riot hitmakers even addressed the drama on their Instagram, writing: \u2018Apologies to everyone who attempted to tune in yesterday, we appreciate you wanting to join the party from home alongside the almost one hundred thousand of you who filled the field!
