\n\tHilary Duff<\/a> is sort of responding to Ashley\u2019s Tisdale\u2019s claims from her essay in The Cut<\/a>, in which she explained that she had to leave her \u201ctoxic mom group.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn an interview with the Los Angeles Times<\/a>, published on Friday, Duff was asked about the drama that stemmed from Tisdale\u2019s essay last month and if it led her to pause reentering the pop world. The High School Musical actress\u2019 essay described how she ended relationships in her mom group circle because she felt left out and that it was becoming toxic.<\/p>\n

\n\tEven though Tisdale didn\u2019t name drop anyone, she and Duff have been photographed together as being a part of the same mom group. And after Tisdale\u2019s essay was published, Duff\u2019s husband and singer-songwriter, Matthew Koma, fired back<\/a> by posting a photo to his Instagram Story of himself photoshopped onto Tisdale\u2019s body with a fictional headline that reads: \u201cWhen You\u2019re The Most Self Obsessed Tone Deaf Person On Earth, Other Moms Tend To Shift Focus To Their Actual Toddlers.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThis is not new for me,\u201d Duff told the Los Angeles Times regarding the drama. \u201cI\u2019ve had this since I was maybe 15 and starting to get followed around by paparazzi. Everything starts getting documented and everyone knows my life and all the players in it. So the stories that get news pickup \u2014 it\u2019s not what happens to a normal person who maybe became an actor as an adult.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tShe continued to explain that attention is now escalated by spreading information on TikTok. \u201cIt\u2019s hard because you\u2019re like, \u2018Wait, whoa, that person kind of got it right,\u2019 and \u2018Whoa that person doesn\u2019t know what they\u2019re talking about,’\u201d Duff said. \u201cI saw something that was like, \u2018None of the moms at school actually like her and neither do the teachers,\u2019 and I was like, \u2018First of all\u2026 By the way, the women at school are lovely and I\u2019m obsessed with all of them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn Tisdale\u2019s essay, she explains what led her to break up with her friend group. \u201cI remember being left out of a couple of group hangs, and I knew about them because Instagram made sure it fed me every single photo and Instagram Story,\u201d she wrote. \u201cAnother time, at one of the mom\u2019s dinner parties, I realized where I sat with her \u2014 which was at the end of the table, far from the rest of the women. I was starting to feel frozen out of the group, noticing every way that they seemed to exclude me. At first, I tried not to take things personally. It\u2019s not like people aren\u2019t allowed to get together without me \u2014 and maybe there were perfectly good reasons that I hadn\u2019t been invited. We were all busy, life was hectic.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tShe also said she didn\u2019t know why she was being left out, but it made her feel like she was \u201cin high school again\u201d and \u201ctotally lost.\u201d Tisdale reached out to members of the group and recalled that it \u201cdidn\u2019t exactly go over well.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSome of the others tried to smooth things over. One sent flowers, then ignored me when I thanked her for them. Another tried to convince me that everyone assumed I\u2019d been invited to gatherings and just hadn\u2019t shown up,\u201d she wrote before adding, \u201cYou deserve to go through motherhood with people who actually, you know, like you. And if you have to wonder if they do, here\u2019s the hard-earned lesson I hope you\u2019ll take to heart: It\u2019s not the right group for you.
