Fresh from breaking a world record at the European Championships, Emma Finucane<\/a> has carried her searing form into this week\u2019s British Track Championships<\/a>, where she is now one win away from a clean sweep.<\/p>\n

The Olympic gold medallist, who won the team sprint on Friday, returned on Saturday to rule over the keirin, crossing the line at least three bike lengths ahead of her GB team-mates.<\/p>\n

The victories come three weeks after Finucane broke the flying 200m record<\/a> en route to Euros gold in the sprint. \u201cI came in with good form,\u201d she said of this week’s Nationals, \u201cand I\u2019ve kind of used that momentum.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn that [keirin] final, I knew I needed some space, and as long as I put 100% effort in and found that black line, I knew it would be really hard to get round me. That\u2019s pretty much what I did: I picked a point, found the black line, and absolutely sent it. To cross the line first is really, really special.\u201d<\/p>\n

Finucane last achieved a clean sweep at the competition in 2023<\/a>, then 20 years old and riding on her home velodrome in Newport. \u201cTo win a National Champs jersey is always special,\u201d she said, after claiming her seventh on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Now with a day to go at the championships, both she and her partner Matthew Richardson<\/a> are looking for one more win each to take a full sprint gold medal haul back to their home in suburban Manchester; Finucane will race the individual sprint on Sunday, while Richardson will race the keirin \u2013 both events in which the two are the European champions.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe triple would be really cool, and hopefully Matty will do the same. He\u2019s pretty unbeatable here,\u201d Finucane said. \u201c[I’m taking it] one race at a time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Team sprint overhaul<\/p>\n

Richardson\u2019s second title of the championships came in the team sprint, which he won with Marcus Hiley and Harry Radford \u2013 a trio that pledged to race together over a game of Fifa a month ago.<\/p>\n

In the final, the team were five thousands of a second down at the end of the second lap, before Richardson pulled them a whole second into the green. Their finishing time of 42.478 would have earned them a gold medal and a world record at the London 2012 Olympics.<\/p>\n

\u201cI certainly executed better than I thought I would,\u201d Radford said.<\/p>\n

After the race, he, Hiley and Richardson swapped their skinsuits for Stockport County shirts, in honour of their team\u2019s 4-2 victory over Wigan in League One. \u201cIt\u2019s a shame we missed the game,\u201d Hiley said. \u201cBut I guess coming away with a jersey makes it worthwhile in the end.\u201d<\/p>\n

Morris and Bostock double up<\/p>\n

There were more national titles, too, for Anna Morris and Matthew Bostock, who each earned their second gold medal of the week.<\/p>\n

Morris, who won the scratch race on Thursday and placed second in the individual pursuit on Friday<\/a>, proved the most consistent scorer in the points race, which she won ahead of Josie Knight and Katie Archibald.<\/p>\n

The trio were part of a group that gained a lap during the race, and kept pushing each other into the closing sprints. In the end, Morris tallied 44 points, while Knight collected 33 and Archibald 29.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you\u2019ve got the calibre of riders like Katie, Josie, Jess [Roberts] and Erin [Boothman]<\/a>, it really elevates the level of the field,\u201d Morris said. \u201cIt makes for good, hard racing. That\u2019s what we want, and that\u2019s what we\u2019ve come here to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bostock\u2019s second victory came in the elimination race, following his scratch race win from Friday. \u201cIt\u2019s been the perfect start to the year,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old, now racing for Rapha<\/a>\u2019s new RCC Racing team, rejoined the Great Britain Cycling Team squad last April, having been on the Academy as a teenager.<\/p>\n

\u201cI always used to wing it a bit [on the track],\u201d he smiled. \u201cBut now, with the help of the coaches, I\u2019m starting to actually really understand it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tandem treble<\/p>\n

In the para-cycling events, tandem duo Jenny Holl and Sophie Unwin earned their third gold medals, this time with a catch at the halfway point in the 4km pursuit final.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe went quicker than either of us were expecting to,\u201d said Unwin, who, with Holl, is the world champion in the event. \u201cTo be able to race in the rainbow jersey, and to be able to win in the rainbow jersey, is great.\u201d<\/p>\n

There were also wins for Crystal Lane-Wright in the C4-5 scratch race, Elisabeth Simpson in the C1-3 scratch race, Alex Jones in the C4-5 kilometre time trial, Fin Graham in the C1-3 kilometre time trial, and Frederick Ireland and Aaron Pope in the men\u2019s tandem sprint.<\/p>\n
