{"id":440416,"date":"2026-02-23T00:35:07","date_gmt":"2026-02-23T00:35:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/440416\/"},"modified":"2026-02-23T00:35:07","modified_gmt":"2026-02-23T00:35:07","slug":"dark-day-in-armagh-as-crash-victims-named","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/440416\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Dark day&#8217; in Armagh as crash victims named"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Three people have died following a three-vehicle collision in Co Armagh last night.<\/p>\n<p>The crash occurred on the Moy Road near Armagh city shortly before 10.30pm.<\/p>\n<p>The three victims of the crash have been named as 23-year-old Laura Hoy from Cookstown in Co Tyrone, 31-year-old Conor Quinn from Derrylaughan, Co Tyrone and 49-year-old John Guy from Keady, Co Armagh.<\/p>\n<p>Four other people were injured, with three being treated in hospitals in Belfast and Armagh.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rte.ie\/news\/ireland\/2026\/0222\/1559758-ireland-rtc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">It brought to seven the number of fatalities on Irish roads yesterday.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>PSNI Assistant Chief Constable Davy Beck said the families of those who died in Co Armagh have been informed and family liaison officers are supporting them.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;One can only imagine the real sense of shock and grief that is engulfing those families at this particular time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He expressed his &#8220;personal&#8221; and &#8220;heartfelt&#8221; condolences to the families impacted by this &#8220;real tragedy&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking near the scene of the crash, he said emergency services were &#8220;faced with a really challenging and a difficult scene&#8221; last night.<\/p>\n<p alt=\"'Very dark day' as two men, woman killed in Co Armagh crash\" class=\"tpe\" data-description=\"\" data-embed=\"rte-player\" data-id=\"22586656\" data-ot-category=\"C0004\" data-title=\"\">We need your consent to load this rte-player contentWe use rte-player to manage extra content that can set cookies on your device and collect data about your activity. Please review their details and accept them to load the content.<a class=\"blocked-button\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rte.ie\/news\/ulster\/2026\/0222\/1559818-armagh-moy-rtc\/javascript:void(0);\" onclick=\"OneTrust.ToggleInfoDisplay()\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Manage Preferences<\/a><\/p>\n<p>He said one person is being treated at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, with two others treated at Craigavon Area Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>All three people are said to be in a stable condition.<\/p>\n<p>ACC Beck said he has no doubt &#8220;that this community will rally around those impacted by this terrible event.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Fermanagh &amp; South Tyrone MLA Diana Armstrong said it was &#8220;a very dark day for families who have been plunged into shock and mourning&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Armstrong said she sends them her &#8220;deepest sympathies and sincere condolences&#8221;, adding they must be &#8220;totally at a loss to comprehend the scale of this tragedy&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Watch: PSNI Assistant Chief Constable Davy Beck<\/p>\n<p data-embed=\"comcast-player\" data-id=\"_oMiaSsdqiUE&amp;app=true\">\n<p>The Ulster Unionist Party deputy leader said: &#8220;The toll of the loss of life in this incident has shocked the local community and many will be holding those impacted in their thoughts and prayers today.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;My thanks go to the PSNI and emergency services who attended the scene and transferred those affected for medical treatment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Police say inquiries are continuing and have asked anyone who was in the area and witnessed the incident to contact them.<\/p>\n<p>The Moy Road, the scene of last night&#8217;s crash, has now reopened, police confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>Additional reporting PA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Three people have died following a three-vehicle collision in Co Armagh last night.
