One of 1997\u2019s most beloved PS1 games may be coming to PS5, according to a new leak.<\/p>\n

There were a lot of great games coming out in 1997. Tomb Raider II, Final Fantasy VII, and GoldenEye 007 come to mind, which can all be played on modern consoles.<\/p>\n

But there were loads more brilliant games coming out in 1997 which haven\u2019t yet received the remaster or remake treatment. Thankfully, it looks like that gap might be closing for at least one more title.<\/p>\n

As revealed by a PSN leak, it appears that the classic PS1 adventure and puzzle game Riven by Cyan Productions is due for a re-release on PS5 in the near future.<\/p>\n

Trophies have now appeared on PSN for Riven, which have been scraped by websites like Exophase<\/a>, confirming that a PS5 version may be coming soon.<\/p>\n

Riven technically already has a remake<\/a>, but there\u2019s no way to play it on PlayStation consoles. It was released for PC, Mac, and Meta Quest in 2024, with no console versions confirmed at the time.<\/p>\n

So, it’s possible that a PS5 and Xbox Series X\/S release may be on the cards very soon.<\/p>\n

Originally released in 1997 for PC<\/a> and PlayStation<\/a>, Riven is an adventure game that acts as a sequel to Myst, and is the second game in the Myst series. <\/p>\n

Just like its predecessor, Riven is seen as a huge success for the adventure game genre, utilising immersive point-and-click movement through pre-rendered environments and puzzle-solving.<\/p>\n

The 2024 remake utilises fully 3D environments which can be explored freely, while also retaining the same vibe as the original.<\/p>\n

Cutscenes were recreated using CG characters and motion capture, as the quality of the original game was poor and did not include full-screen shots of the characters.<\/p>\n

The remake also makes a few changes to puzzles to make them a little less difficult for newcomers, while also retaining an element of randomness by changing the solution for each new playthrough, so players familiar with the game can\u2019t just breeze through it.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no sign of when Riven could make its way to PS5, but I\u2019d imagine a proper reveal will be made soon enough.<\/p>\n
