McCoist was left with his head in his hands after the red hot form of a former Rangers flop was brought to his attention<\/p>\n

McCoist couldn’t believe it<\/p>\n

Ally McCoist couldn’t believe his eyes when he read that forgotten Rangers<\/a> flop Mateusz Zukowski is banging the goals in in Germany \u2013 after being transformed into a clinical STRIKER.<\/p>\n

There have been a few players at Ibrox in recent years who have desperately struggled before going on to thrive elsewhere. Most famously Umar Sadiq<\/a>, who couldn’t hit a barn door with a baseball bat in Glasgow but later earned himself a \u00a320m move to Real Sociedad after some stunning form in Spain.<\/p>\n

Zukowski<\/a> signed for around \u00a3400,000 in January 2022 and only made a single appearance against Annan in the early rounds of the Scottish Cup. He left Ibrox on a free in the summer of 2023 and made 66 appearances for Slask Wroclaw in his native Poland before FC Magdeburg in the German second tier took a chance on him in the summer.<\/p>\n

And it’s a chance that is paying off.<\/p>\n

Zukowski, now being used as a centre-forward, hit a double against Schalke over the weekend to take his tally for the season to 11 goals in 11 league games. It’s a far cry from his time at Rangers and his sudden explosion was put to McCoist<\/a> by the talkSPORT producers during the breakfast show this morning.<\/p>\n

And McCoist, speaking with Alan Brazil on the morning broadcast, said: “Does this name ring a bell? It probably won’t, and it shouldn’t. Mateusz Zukowski? I’m going to tell you a little bit about him. This sums us up, this…<\/p>\n

“Rangers signed him as a right-back for \u00a3400,000 on January deadline day in 2022. He left a year and a half later without making a single appearance in the league.<\/p>\n

“Why am I bringing this up? Because since leaving Rangers, he’s been converted to a striker in Bundesliga 2, and he’s scored 11 goals in 11 games. Two of them came against Edin Dzeko’s Schalke on Saturday. They’re top of the league!”<\/p>\n
