Premier League presenter Steve Bower has revealed what Peter Schmeichel first thought about Senne Lammens when Manchester United signed the shot-stopper.<\/p>\n

Senne Lammens<\/a> was the final Manchester United<\/a> summer signing of the 2025 transfer window under the Ineos<\/a> regime at Old Trafford<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old Belgian shot-stopper arrived during the reign of Ruben Amorim<\/a> and the Red Devils agreed an initial fee of \u00a318.1m to sign him from Royal Antwerp.<\/p>\n

Lammens left his native homeland and made the move to England on deadline day last September, with the Belgium international already impressing at the club.<\/p>\n

Senne Lammens has ascended to the Manchester United No 1 role in the 2025-26 campaign after Andre Onana<\/a> was offloaded to Super Lig outfit Trabzonspor in 2025.<\/p>\n

The former Royal Antwerp ace has kept five clean sheets in 22 matches across all competitions for United in his debut season with the Premier League club.<\/p>\n

Speaking during Premier League Productions\u2019<\/a> coverage for Man Utd\u2019s 1-0 win over Everton<\/a> on Monday, Michael Owen<\/a> admitted that Lammens had impressed him.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, really impressive, he said.<\/p>\n

Steve Bower singled out the \u201cstumbled\u201d remark that Michael Owen made and added that not even Red Devils legend Peter Schmeichel<\/a> had heard of Lammens before.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, you say stumbled,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s give some credit to the recruitment team because he went under the radar. I mean, the day he signed, I text[ed] Peter Schmeichel.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know what Peter Schmeichel said? And he watches goalkeepers everywhere. He said, \u2018I\u2019ve never heard of him, Steve.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Senne Lammens has been a Man Utd revelation and a breath of fresh air at Old Trafford this season<\/p>\n

Schmeichel has been a big fan of Lammens since the Belgium and Red Devils ace has quickly settled into life at United after he made the move to Old Trafford.<\/p>\n

Lammens has been a commanding presence in the United area and has not suffered the same error-prone performances of Andre Onana or Altay Bayindir<\/a> so far.<\/p>\n

The Red Devils player became the club\u2019s No 1 under ex-United manager<\/a> Ruben Amorim and has maintained his role under interim boss Michael Carrick<\/a> as well.<\/p>\n

Three of Lammens\u2019 five Premier League sheets have come under United legend<\/a> Michael Carrick since Amorim was sacked as Red Devils manager<\/a> last month.<\/p>\n
