Wayne Rooney has shared his verdict on Benjamin Sesko after the Manchester United striker\u2019s match-winner against Everton in the Premier League.<\/p>\n

On Monday night, Manchester United beat Everton 1-0<\/a> to climb back into the top four.<\/p>\n

Benjamin Sesko<\/a> came off the bench to score the only goal in the 71st-minute, but questions remain over whether he has earned a place in Michael Carrick\u2019s<\/a> starting line-up.<\/p>\n

The Slovenian has been utilised as an impact substitute since Carrick\u2019s arrival, scoring three goals. The 44-year-old has opted to start Bryan Mbeumo<\/a>, Matheus Cunha<\/a> and Amad Diallo<\/a> as his attacking players.<\/p>\n

Sesko has already surpassed his goal tally under Ruben Amorim<\/a> since Carrick returned to Old Trafford<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old scored two goals under Amorim, but he has been given a new lease of life with Carrick as head coach, even though he is still waiting for his first start under the former United midfielder.<\/p>\n

The resurgence of Sesko is a huge positive in United\u2019s quest to secure Champions League qualification<\/a>, but the club\u2019s record scorer, Wayne Rooney<\/a>, has stressed that the young forward is still a \u201cwork in progress\u201d.<\/p>\n

In a clip shared by The Overlap<\/a> on social media, Rooney is asked to describe a range of Premier League strikers, including Sesko.<\/p>\n

United used just three words to assess Sesko, saying: \u201cWork in progress.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rooney was more complimentary of strikers like Liverpool\u2019s Hugo Ekitike, Brentford\u2019s Igor Thiago and Man City\u2019s Erling Haaland.<\/p>\n

The only way Sesko can earn more plaudits is by continuing to score goals, whether it\u2019s as a substitute or a starter.<\/p>\n

Benjamin Sesko nominated for Player of the Month award<\/p>\n

Sesko is one of three United players nominated for the club\u2019s Player of the Month award.<\/p>\n

The others include Senne Lammens<\/a> and Harry Maguire<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sesko has been made a contender after making four appearances from the bench, scoring three goals and earning one man of the match award.<\/p>\n

He began the month by scoring a late winner against Fulham. His other goals came against West Ham and Everton.<\/p>\n

It remains to be seen if Sesko will start against Crystal Palace on Sunday, with many United fans believing that the striker is deserving of a starting berth.<\/p>\n
