{"id":447808,"date":"2026-02-27T03:25:14","date_gmt":"2026-02-27T03:25:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/447808\/"},"modified":"2026-02-27T03:25:14","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T03:25:14","slug":"strade-bianche-honours-triple-winner-tadej-pogacar-with-a-gravel-sector-bearing-his-name","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/447808\/","title":{"rendered":"Strade Bianche honours triple winner Tadej Poga\u010dar with a gravel sector bearing his name"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"8291ce79-14af-4435-82c0-860292dadc6f\">With three dominant <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/strade-bianche\/\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/strade-bianche\/\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/strade-bianche\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Strade Bianche<\/a> wins from his last three starts in 2022, 2024, and 2025, <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/tadej-pogacar\/\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/tadej-pogacar\/\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/tadej-pogacar\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tadej Poga\u010dar<\/a> has proven unbeatable at the race in recent years.<\/p>\n<p>Now, to mark his achievements on the white gravel of Tuscany, the world champion has been honoured by race organisers RCS Sport.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-seasonal\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"8291ce79-14af-4435-82c0-860292dadc6f-2\" class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">The honour of having a sterrato sector named after him has previously been bestowed upon the race&#8217;s only other three-time winner, <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/news\/strade-bianche-dedicates-white-road-sector-to-cancellara\/\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/news\/strade-bianche-dedicates-white-road-sector-to-cancellara\/\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/news\/strade-bianche-dedicates-white-road-sector-to-cancellara\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fabian Cancellara, who received the prize in 2017<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>            You may like<\/p>\n<p>At this year&#8217;s 20th edition of the race, Poga\u010dar and the rest of the peloton will race past a stone monument bearing his name as they race up the challenging and sometimes decisive Colle Pinzuto sector.<\/p>\n<p>The 600-metre, 7.5% sector was where Poga\u010dar left behind Tom Pidcock before <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/tadej-pogacar\/\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/tadej-pogacar\/\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/tadej-pogacar\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">soloing home to secure his third Strade Bianche title<\/a> last March. In 2024 and 2022, of course, he was already well clear of his rivals, having mounted 81km and 50km solo raids.<\/p>\n<p>Cancellara, who won the race in 2008, 2012, and 2016, has his name next to another challenging and well-known sterrato sector, Monte Sante Marie. It&#8217;s the same place where Poga\u010dar rode away in 2024 to one of his most memorable triumphs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">His 2025 win, meanwhile, saw him come back from a crash upon exiting the Monteaperti sector with 50km left to run. He and Pidcock had been away together for 28km by that point, but the Briton sportingly waited for him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"newsletter-form__strapline\">The latest race content, interviews, features, reviews and expert buying guides, direct to your inbox!<\/p>\n<p>The crash clearly had little lasting effect on Poga\u010dar, who went on to attack at the sector which will now bear his name, ending his ride in Siena, 1:24 up on second-placed Pidcock.<\/p>\n<p>Poga\u010dar will have the opportunity to take the Strade Bianche win record for himself next month when he&#8217;ll line up in search of a fourth victory on Saturday, March 7.
