It was way back then that Liz\u2019s mom gave her the golden rule to dating.<\/p>\n
\u201cCharm and intrigue can only get you so far, Libby Lou,\u201d her mom had said. \u201cThose things always disappear, which is why you never, ever choose the bad boy.\u201d<\/p>\n
Why did Mom bring that topic up in second grade? Oh, that\u2019s easy. You see, before Liz\u2019s mom passed in a terrible car crash, romance and love were sort of their vibe. They\u2019d watch old romance movies together and talk about them all the time. Romance pics were, in fact, Liz\u2019s first early passion.<\/p>\n
Liz gained her sense of style from those films; she absorbed her carefree-girl-loving-life attitude from them. From those movies and their hearts and flowers joy she formulated exactly what her first romance would be like. And now, here in her senior year in high school, she\u2019s about to see all of that sweet perfection come together. She\u2019s sure of it.<\/p>\n
You see, there\u2019s this boy named Michael Young who just moved back into town. Back when they were kids, he was Liz\u2019s forever crush. But he moved away. Now that he\u2019s back\u2014handsomer than ever, with an adorable southern twang\u2014Liz will do whatever it takes to get on his radar and make her first crush daydreams a reality. Prom, here she comes!<\/p>\n
Oh yeah, that\u2019s where Wes, Liz\u2019s next-door neighbor, comes in. Besides being the bane of her life and a decided bad boy, he also happens to be the only way that Liz can get into a \u201ckeg party\u201d where she can connect with Michael.<\/p>\n
Liz can\u2019t stand beer or the stupid parties where teens drink the foul stuff, but this party is the best place to rekindle all those remember when memories with Michael. And the timing is critical. She must \u00a0cute-meet before the beautiful Laney swoops in to grab Michael\u2019s attention.<\/p>\n
The key to that all unfolding is the loathsome Wes. She\u2019ll have to make some deal with him, of course, to get him to go along with it. But as long as it doesn\u2019t require selling her soul, she\u2019ll endure.<\/p>\n
Hopefully it won\u2019t turn out like any of those rom coms where everything goes wrong.<\/p>\n
