Birmingham City\u2019s 3-0 defeat to Millwall is a reminder of the brutal nights the Championship can provide according to manager Chris Davies.<\/p>\n
Davies<\/a> admitted his team were \u2018second best\u2019 in their mauling at The Den<\/a> on a night where almost everything went wrong.<\/p>\n A belter from Femi Azeez was followed by further goals from Tristan Crama and Jake Cooper that Davies wasn\u2019t best pleased with and, to add to Blues\u2019<\/a> pain, Jhon Solis<\/a> was sent off in the second half.<\/p>\n Ensure our latest headlines always appear at the top of your Google Search<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cWe didn’t do enough to get something from that match, clearly,\u201d reflected Davies. \u201cThere wasn\u2019t much in the game as a football game, the direct style of their play \u2013 long balls, throw-ins and free-kicks \u2013 we were second best.<\/p>\n \u201cIn a game like that, if you\u2019re second best too often you\u2019re never going to get something.<\/p>\n “The first goal was potentially the best goal I\u2019ve seen this season in the Championship, certainly in a game I\u2019ve been at. The second goal was sloppy on our part and then you\u2019ve got a mountain to climb.<\/p>\n \u201cThere were some OK moments progressing the ball, that side of it wasn\u2019t the difficult part, it was the bouncing balls. We were second best too often.<\/p>\n \u201cAt half-time, you say if we keep this at 2-0, even until the very end of the match and we get a goal, it opens it right up and three minutes into the second half we concede a set piece.<\/p>\n “It was one of those nights where it felt like everything that could go wrong went wrong.<\/p>\n \u201cThen we had the red card. The one thing we didn\u2019t do was buckle. We stayed resolute and kept it at 3-0.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was a timely reminder to the players \u2013 if we needed it \u2013 of what this league is and how challenging it is, and how you have to earn every single point.\u201d<\/p>\n Solis was sent off for a second bookable offence after a clumsy challenge on Casper De Norre in midfield.<\/p>\n The second red card of the Colombian\u2019s short professional career will rule him out of Monday\u2019s match against Middlesbrough.<\/p>\n Davies said: \u201cHe\u2019s been really good and played more than any of us expected. He\u2019s done well, he\u2019s young, new to the league and everything that comes with it. You can see the reception he gets from our fans, that tells you a lot.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you\u2019re on a yellow card, you need to be really careful. He will learn. He\u2019s a young player.
